Lalaland, CA: Britney Spears, the hopelessly neurotic bimbo actress/singer has been flown to Sweden for a sex change operation. Ms. Spears' manager said Britney would have a legal name change and hereafter be known as 'Bradford Spears'.

Never in my life would I have thought I would have to write a defense of Brittany Spears, but like the old punk song goes: Never Say Never.
So, here it goes. She has been served very poorly by people who made an awesome amount of money by her, not the least of which was K-Fed (I'm a better DJ, and I don't even DJ), her mom (who ought to be in jail for child abuse) and her sister, her manager, her law team and all the rest.
If she would ask me - and I'm sure she ain't about to do that - I would say A) Get the HELL out of LA, its a poser town, full of posers, and fake in a way that even makes fake look natural. Its no good. LEAVE.
b) Let me take you to some out of the way studio, and there are several, in England, or Muscle Shoals (close to where she grew up and would feel very at home) and make a great record. I can get you the best in the biz (they are whores, they work for money, they will show up) and do a real record. I have a fantasy of her doing Dylan's "Just Like A Woman" in the first person. Ya' know, a little Memphis Horns behind her, Sly and Robbie doing B&D. Or doing some other great covers that she could make as her own - because she does have pipes, and she can sell a song. I'd have her do "Grease" too, she was born to sing that song - Olivia Newton John does not do it justice, Brittany could. Maybe get the Prodigy boys or the Crystal Method guys behind her on that. I can hear that now. Hell I'd even giver her a shot at Lady Day's "God Bless The Child" cause I'm sure she has lived it. Get Warren Hanes in to play the lead line on his song "Beatifly Broken" or "Soulshine."

I feel sorry for her. And I don't for most people. She has been abused, ripped-off and screwed over. And that was by those she gave trust too. Few of us have ever been through that.
I feel rotten about how Brittney's been treated.
That said, I'm tired of having my serious, life threatening condition used as a comedic ploy. Not only do they abuse us with the attitude that "sex changes" are ridiculous, they also conflate it with a woman who is obviously psychologically troubled. Of course, they infer, she would go for sex change now because she's sick in the head.
I appreciate satire and parody but this seems just plain mean spirited to me.

Well if you describe a man as someone who works their ass off to support others who are working a lot less than that, then she is there. And I understand all the headline was in jest, but I also understand that its jest by people who would not have the balls to walk up to Madonna or Cher and say the same thing. Brittany has worked harder in her life than most of the people on this board will given ten lives. And I can not imagine how a natal woman who has given birth feels when those babies are ripped from her arms. And then given to K-Fed, who I do think is an honorable person trying to do the right thing - I'm sure she is in pain.
The whole deal is sick ->-bleeped-<-, people making fun of other people just because they have accomplished something. And they say that humans don't eat their young. Hard to prove by this.

Besides. "Bimbo" is a male baby, isn't it? So why does it get co-opted as a derogatory term for a woman? That's actually the one thing that bothers me most. A steady diet of making women less, consistently. I can see where the male audience wouldn't be much concerned by that. It tends to enhance their own capacities for 'intelligence' and 'ability.'
You may notice that I included a range of male artists: gay, transgendered, androgynous, he-man and just male. Yet, not a one, no matter how egregious their behaviors gets quite the nasty 'humor' tossed at a woman.
