Céad míle fáilteWelcome James. Here you have found a place where you can share and you can read about other people experience.
Of course, first you should acquaint yourself with the rules.
All I can say is do not rush or push yourself until you are ready. First you must be confident enough in yourself before you can do anything else.
You mention that two people know about you. What made you choose this two people? What was their reaction? Are they ready to support you?

Hi James:
Confidence and going out in public are kind of a chicken and egg problem.
Just start doing it and you will gain confidence.
I found it really amazing what people don't notice (or at least don't act like they've noticed).
Welcome to the forums.
