I noticed several months ago that beard growth on the right side of my face was more pronounced than on the left side. I thought it was just growing in a little patchy, but then I realized that I had acne on the right side of my face and hardly any on the left side. I always inject on the right - never the left - so I'm pretty sure that's what's doing it. Anyone else had this happen?
I don't think that where you introduce sex steroids into the body makes any difference; this is the mistaken assumption that leads some MTFs to place estrogen patches/inject in the breast area. The side of the body where you inject won't cause the T to only go to one side of your body, it flows through the blood everywhere. More likely it's just a genetic thing, your male relatives probably had something similar happen to them during their puberty. My beard never came in really since I started hormones young and had a weak male puberty, but the hair growth I did get on the face was pretty uneven. Same for my dad.

I have always alternated between my left and right buttock muscles when injecting T and found that the hair grew much faster on the right side of my face to start with. It was worrying me for a while but I have been on testosterone for about a year now and the growth on the left side of my face has now caught up with the right. Maybe it could be something to do with whether you are right or left handed as I am right handed? So I wouldn't worry, it should level out in the end.
Same, a few scraps of my left sideburn grew in first, then the right caught up and passed the beard growth on the left. It's just the way it grows in.

Yeah, I know it shouldn't make a difference, should it? Maybe it's a left/right-handed thing - I'm right-handed. The acne thing worried me a little, but it'd probably happen whichever side I injected.
It could be that. I'm right handed and I had most growth and acne on the right first. Dennis said his was on the left mostly to start with. Are you a lefty Dennis? The acne thing can be a pain. I never got many spots when going through puberty the first time (rather not think about the first time round) but with T I have had quite a lot of spots. Mainly on my chin and upper back, especially where my binder falls. It's funny though that most literature regarding the spotty phase of T says it should happen within the first 6 months but I have only really started getting it bad recently and I am now in my first year. I have however noticed that with this recent burst of spots I have had a rapid facial hair growth and now have a reasonably acceptable goatee and sideburns (sideburns still more furry than hairy though) :D So I reckon it's worth it overall.
Nope, right handed. It might be a stretch for me to say left sideburn grew in first. It was more a few hairs that I could barely see without a magnifying glass. The right side, after it did start growing, has actually got facial hair. I'm still not evened out. Can't get my left sideburn to meet my hairline.

Isn't that annoying? I can practically grow a full beard...on the left side. The right side is just a sideburn then scraggle. Sigh.
But I rotate injection sites, so I'm positive that has nothing to do with it.
It definitely has nothing to do with injection sites. The left side of my face has thicker growth than the right side. It would take more time than I have to see it's going to even out but alas, the world will never know.
Let me give some advice from a fuzzy one. My beard first started to come in when I was 13 years old, but it was definitely not symmetrical. In fact, it was a few years before any fur started to grow on my chin... I had a REVERSE goatee. I still have a small patch on my chin where no hair grow.
Basically, when you are getting hormones, through shots or through puberty, it's gonna cause havoc on your body. Things won't be symmetrical to start with. Sometimes things will even be different color (when I was a teen parts of my beard would come in grey, some would come in blonde, some would come in dark dark brown). In the end it evens out. If you want to grow a full beard, it takes a while, because not all parts of it grow at the same rate.
It is pretty much impossible to grow a beard without at some point looking like you have the mange. That's one of the great things about being a guy I guess...
Actually, when I started on hormones my left breast was more predominant than the right. Funny how that when I placed the transdermal patches on the right abdomen it leveled out for the most part!
