"In the Sermon on the Mount, a Bible passage favored by many, Jesus instructs listeners to "do to others what you would have them do to you".
The commentator is unhappy that Obama supports civil unions instead of gay marriage. But then Hillary does the same.

[You religious people who are so] confident that you yourselves are guides to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, correctors of the foolish, teachers of the immature, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth, you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourselves? You who preach that one should not steal, do you steal? You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you steal [members from other] churches? You who boast in the law, through your breaking the law, do you dishonor God? For "The name of God is blasphemed among the nations because of you," just as it is written [in the Bible]. (Romans 2:19-24)
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men, for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Matt. 23:13

From Luke 6:
37 - Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.
41 - And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
42 - Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
These are some of the wisest words in print. I read them as printed and I can easily accept these as words to live by. They are not necessarily religious in nature but rather, they are good common sense. They are universally true.
