To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. In their grey visions they obtain glimpses of eternity, and thrill, in awakening, to find they have been upon the verge of the great secret.

"I though of that old joke, y'know, the, this, this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, "Doc, uh, my brother's crazy. He thinks he's a chicken." And, uh, the doctor says, "Well, why don't you turn him in?" And the guy says, "I would, but I need the eggs." Well, I guess that's pretty much how I feel about relationships. Y'know, they're totally irrational and crazy and absurd and, but, uh, I guess we keep going through it because, uh, most of us need the eggs."

It somes from the book
Animal Farm by George Orwell, which is a metaphor for how comunist states started and where they ended up.

Hey Chaunte :)
I was just being silly, I know that pigs cannot really speak (I think).
As far as George Orwell, "Animal Farm"& "1984", his writing is brilliant but I put his books down feeling really depressed. Too dark and yet too true a take on human nature.
I believe Stalin loathed George Orwell on account of his writings - I dont blame him, I think those books and I think Communist Russia (China, whatever - all evil empires)

Merope,
Sorry. Given some of the kids I teach,
Animal Farm is when you don't have an orchard and
1984 is when
Ghostbusters was released.

Given what I know of the mess called life I can not help but to agree. I have known far more snakes on two legs than any other mode of transportation.
However, given this is a quote thread I feel obligated to share another quote...
