"Excerpt: Veiga's new bill would add "sexual orientation" to the list of human conditions one cannot discriminate against. The anti-discrimination law would apply in housing, employment, places of public accommodation, sales of cemetery plots, issuance of credit and 18 other circumstances. It defines sexual orientation as "a person's orientation toward heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, or transgender status or another person's perception thereof."
Natasha, this is good. It is very well written. And it twists common sense to the core. I love how the author molds discrimination into a thoughtful reasonable decision to be made. He's very clever.
This is precisely the kind of morale hatred we need to end. Unfortunately, passing laws is the best method we have to raise awareness and educate. I believe that anti discriminatory laws by themselves will not end the practice. But... it is the best way to effect the change that is needed.
