Title: The clock has begun to tick...
Post by: Butterfly on March 16, 2008, 05:14:43 AM
After months of planning for this moment.  I have ultimately scheduled my GRS for May 19, 2009 in the States with Dr. Marci Bowers.  It would appear that every time I get to America is to have some major procedure done.  ~laugh~ Thank you very kindly to all of you, to this site.  Your experiences have been an inspiration to me.  Now the clock's ticking...

O fantastic! Congratulations Leslie! I will have my GRS with Dr. Bowers in three months too. Checking your profile I see you're Danish?  I'm Swiss but I'd travel to the end of the world for a surgeon like Dr. Bowers. I don't care how much she charges.  She's brilliant & very compassionate.  I'm delighted for you.

We should rename this topic to "Bowers girls"  Congrats Leslie & Blanche.  I'm a Bowers girl myself, Class of 2005  & also European.  How about that?

I'm Dutch but I reside in Denmark.  That's where my job is.  It gets quite lonely here sometimes but the family get togethers are marvelous.

Can't believe it's been more than a year since I posted this.  It's been a marvelous journey with every feeling combined, but the moment of truth's arrived & I'm ecstatic. No words can describe how happy I'm to know that after the 19th, I'll finally be complete. I'm leaving for the States Monday morning. I want to get familiar with the area & the facilities before my big day.  The boyfriend's coming with me so no worries, I won't be alone.  Thank you kindly for your messages & moral support.

Thank you very kindly for all your support.  I'm finally home.  We arrived yesterday. The op went well & I'm happy.  Everybody was so nice whilst I was in Mt. San Raphael Hospital, the nurses, Marci.  They treated me like royalty.  Now I'm home & feel depressed.  I dunno if it's the 8-hr flight or what but I'm in a lot of pain at this very instant.  Wish I could keep myself in a sitting position for longer periods of time but I can't.  It hurts, it hurts a lot, the pain can be too much at times.  And the post-operative care, the dilation regimen is making me mad.   I've been quite emotional lately so I'm sorry for being such a wimp :'(.  I was asking a friend: now that everything is over, what happens next?  can anybody tell me?

Hi Leslie. I experienced some pretty serious depression after my top surgery. People say it's from the anesthesia and the healing process. I;m okay now. I think my body has calmed down. may be the reason. But I'm really happy now! I don't know what happens next after vaginoplasty; normal life finally perhaps?  :)

What's next? Life I would imagine! I'm very happy to hear that your operation was successful. As you know, your fight is not over yet! Maintaining your new organ is definitely an adventure in itself. I wish you a speedy recovery free of complication.

But, you aren't alone in wondering "What's next?". Though SRS doesn't change everything, it is a goal in itself that does change many things. I myself would struggle for years to put together money, and it almost damaged my academics (I'm a college student) just in the process leading up to SRS! Imagining life without the goal of SRS seems like it would be such a less stressful concept- but one of the huge goals in our lives has been completed when it is all over and we might feel bored and drained. I hope you get used to it and find passion and drive in your life- Smile, you're all finished kid. =)

Heya hun!  Don't fret.  You'll be ok in no time. Get plenty of rest & tell us all about it when you're up to it.  :icon_hug: Missed you.

Hey, Leslie, you're not a wimp.

Recuperation is almost a full-time job.
Just keep your eye on that and forget about the future for a while.
Take it one day at a time.

Hey Leslie,

You just had major surgery and it takes time for  the body to overcome that shock.  I have had major surgery in the past, and sometimes I thought that I would never get through it.  But I did.  You will too, Hon.

The future will wait, just take it one day at a time.  Each day will get better.  And you are home now which helps too.  Familiar surroundings.

Blessed Be.

Janet
