Carlen asked Clinton about her views on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.
Clinton assured the crowd she would work hard to enact tough penalties for hate crimes and to end discrimination in the country. She also said the military should change its policy, and it is time to let patriotic Americans serve in our military who are gay or lesbian.
"You don't have to be straight to shoot straight," Clinton said, quoting Barry Goldwater, a politician in the 60s and 70s.
Although she supports the LGBTQ community and civil liberties, she said she does not support gay marriage.
