Rumors or reports that Howell and Pinckney high schools are supporting Day of Silence — a political action to protest harassment experienced by homosexuals, bisexual and transgender students and their allies — are unfounded, school officials said Thursday.

"We are not engaging in any political advocacy of any kind," Deputy Superintendent Lynn Parrish of Howell Public Schools said. "We support no Day of Silence. We support education."
