"Institutionalising homosexual marriage would be bad for marriage, bad for children, and bad for society."

Look what's it done to most of the straight people I know.

Honey, that is all I needed to read.
Besides, I know many kids and even my friends who have been devastated by straight couples. ::)
It's not what gets married (as in sex and gender) but who gets married. It's about love and commitment~ <3

That's what I always try to tell other people too! That's a great point.
I'll also add that there needs to be respect too. It makes of a strong trinity worthy of attention. :)
I agree 100% with what Ty said. It's all about Love and commitment, but not what gets married. It's hard to belive that there are only two states in the entire United States of America that allows same sex marriages and Canada allows it. Jessi (my fiancee) and I would love to get married here in Florida, but unfortuantely we can't and we'd have to travel to either one of the two states or Canada to get married legally. So right now we have choosen to be domestic partners until we can get legally married.

Seriously, gay marriage wouldn't be a bad thing at all. I have a second cousin in a gay partnership they live in Massachusetts but I don't know if they're married. They adopted a boy from Russia and he turned out just fine.
Oh, heck, ya, gay marriage would just kill straight marriage. Kids will see how happy married gay couples are and compare them to how misserable their hetersexual parents are and say, "Gee, I think I would be a lot happier if I decided to be gay."
Sorry. I can't take anything seriously that opens with the following:
"it is time to consider the question that pops up more than mushrooms after a spring rain"
Who writes this crap?
Sorry. Bad writing just gets on my nerves.
And here's another:
"The concept of marriage necessarily includes the idea of a man and woman committing themselves to each other. Any other arrangement contradicts the basic definition."
What about all the miserable heterosexual couples that get divorced after years of misery? How committed are they to each other?
"some lesbian couples want to have children through anonymous sperm donations, which means some children will be created purposely without knowledge of one of their biological parents."
Um, maybe people shouldn't be donating their sperm then?
"The effects we have described above will have strong repercussions on a society that is already having trouble maintaining wholesome stability in marriage and family life. If marriage and families are the foundation for a healthy society, introducing more uncertainty and instability in them will be bad for society."
Oh, I can't even go on. Blaming gay marriages for the failures and shortcomings of heterosexual marriages is like yelling at the dog because the cat peed on the floor. If heterosexual marital stability is an issue, then maybe people should be required to do more for pre-marital counseling than just making sure the priest knows their names.
