Thank you Tink. Have you heard of Dr Meltzer re-doing a GRS with excellent results? The kind of results that would be considered worth it? I have little faith in the medical community. Alot of personal investment has been taken with little in return. I wish it wasn't so and continue to hope for a surgeon who can make it all the way it should be.

Brassard also does "redo's" but I haven't seen results.  You would need to consult but he is expensive.

Deborah,

You don't say whether your problems are about depth, functionallity or cosmetics ?

13 years ago forums like this just didn't exist !

Meltzer is really good for cosmetic re-work (see the Anne Lawrence site) as he does labioplasty as a second step in his normal technique.

Prima-donnas like Suporn will not touch anyone other's work !

If you need depth as a secondary procedure then your only route is colon vaginoplasty, and looking at Thai surgeons like Sanguan rather than US surgeons who have limited experience in the technique.

Any secondary surgery is likely to worsen rather than improve sensation and orgasmic capability (only one bite of this cherry) ... :-(

I'm a Brassard patient and I'm absolutely happy with his one step result ... but I have no knowlege of his secondary cosmetic work ... if I were really fussy guess I'd be looking for enhanced labiaplasty and Meltzer would be my choice.

Laura

You are welcome Deborah.  But there's one thing that we need to keep in mind.  A GRS revision will never have the same aesthetic results as those you would have obtained during the inital operation.  In some cases, the entire procedure has to be done from scratch using the little tissue that is already there, and it can cost you as much as (if not more than) what you paid the first time.

I've heard that Dr. Meltzer comes highly recommended, especially with complications that have to do with stenosis (closure of the neo-vagina), poor vaginal depth, or aesthetics of the labia. I'm not sure how much he charges for a consultation, but perhaps it is something to consider?

Difficult question.  Most surgeons complete everything in one step, or for those like Meltzer who do the two-step deal, they set everything up the first time to be ready when it's time for the second operation.  So, IMHO, probably just about any "name" SRS doctor out there will have the same aptitude (that is, rather little) to correct the work done by another.  I would just e-mail all the big names out there that you can get in touch with what they can do.  What are your limitations?  Are you willing to go outside of North America?  If not, I'd say you've got a pretty short list (Bowers, Meltzer, Brassard, in no particular order).

It's about depth and cosmetics.

I didn't exactly get a redo, but I wasn't happy with my results at the time, I prefer not to name the surgeon, but it was over 20years ago, I had labiaplasty by another surgeon, I blame my Mom for a long time after that experience, when I think of it now I still get angry, my Mom was too busy making everything pink and frilly, instead of just letting me do things at my own pace and let me handle my own transition, sorry Im going off thread.
