The media frenzy begins....
It was only a matter of time. Thomas Beatie, the Oregon trans-man who has publicly come out as pregnant in the current edition of The Advocate represents all the reasons that trans-people have a difficult time fitting in a binary world based on sex-roles and stereotypes. If you thought the bathroom issue that many transgender people face was contentious, then let me tell you something - you ain't seen nothing yet.
This kid will probably be the first real MacDuff. I'm sure the Bard is happily turning in his grave.
Jokes aside, I agree that while I wholeheartedly support him, I'm worried about the safety of the baby with all that T-juice floating around in his dad's veins.
Yeah. I worry about the baby too, though if he's been off the T for a significant period of time, hopefully that will reduce the risks significantly.
The social impact though? Yeah... I can see huge firestorms in the distance. Should be interesting to see what the take is on this back home in SA ... especially amongst the relatives and friends, JUST as they receive my letter Sunday morning. Sigh.

Best of luck with that, sweetie. Don't worry, you don't have to tell them you're pregnant (as if we could) ;)
My concern is for the child. I would hope that he has stopped all testosterone until after the birth and let his natural hormones and metabolism's take over.
He obviously has a uterus and ovaries so I would think that the child's health health wouldn't be compromised if he "let's nature take it's course".
Of course I applaud his courage on this and I hope he has a happy and healthy child!
