Title: Ray gave me an idea....tell me what yall think.
Post by: ConfusedMichelle on April 03, 2008, 06:39:37 PM
I'm heading off to a semi-big university in Texas in August.

I know there will be a campus counselor, but will he/she be able to guide me into the direction of T? Prescribe it? Find someone who can?

This is a direct quote from the website.

"Counseling Services also maintains a working relationship with the Department of Psychiatry at the UTSCSA (that's a med school in TX) to provide psychiatric back-up and treatment to UTSA students who may be in need of such services and are actively participating in therapy with Counseling Services."

I know these services are free at the school, so I hope he or she can. Tell me what yall think.

Don't know how it works in the USA but here I'm also seeing a Psychiatrist at my College and if there's anything else I need she can't provide, she'll refer me to someone else in the Area who can. Um.

You should be fine seeing the Psychiatrist at the college provided they are a licensed therapist. I believe if they work at a Uni, they HAVE to have their Phd. Which means they can refer you to a MD for hormone treatment and surgeries but they can't write you a prescription for the hormones themselves.
