Since i feel i may be experiencing something out of the ordinary.
I'm a spiritual kind of person, i'll admit that. I also believe the mind is a powerful thing that should never be underestimated.
Explain to me... scientifically or through evidence of it happening to yourselves: Because we aren't born immediately as who we are and the fact that at some point in our lives we all go through a change both physically and mentally... if any of us have something hidden... like an extra sense, is it possible that extra sense could begin to see light during our transition because we become more comfortable in ourselves?
I am aware what i've just said could be confusing to some cos i'm crap at explaining things. If what i asked is unclear, let me know and i'll try and word it better.
if their were an extra sense, that would make sense. Like the earthquake that revealed Pompeii. But that is only if their were an extra sense.
what do you mean, Pica?
Well, the analogy is that Pompie was covered in magma, no one saw it for hundreds and hundreds of years. Then seismic activity shifted and exposed some of it and it was dug up - the logic may work that the seismic shifts that transitioning takes uncovers hidden wishes, desires, talents, skills etc...
...not sure about new senses, but certainly different ways of experiencing and interpreting old ones.
I think I know what you are getting at Wishy.
My family has a bit of a history of ... extra senses on my mom's side, and when I was younger, and before I struck my denial phase, I would get precog dreams. I was able to verify them as well since I kept a dream-diary, so I know it was real. My mom has always been extraordinarly sensitive as well.
When I did bury myself, that went with it. I became completely cold and rational, and though I believed in ESP and stuff, I could never trust it - my rational mind overrode every instinct, every intuition.
Since I've started transitioning though, I've noticed that my intuition is getting sharper by the day. Instead of weighing pros and cons and making a decision, I follow my instincts, and I am rarely wrong. I've also started catching glimpses of those old dreams again - tough to recall, because of all the detritus that still needs to be cleared away, but it's definitely there.

i ask because i've started having visions. I've always read about people having extra spiritual... what can i call them?... Powers. And to be honest i never really fully believed it as it was never something i've experienced before and i always wondered if it was real... or just an imagination thing that people 'believed' themselves to have this ability.
But lately... i've been dreaming things that seem to happen shortly after. Nothing major... one of a days events and the other about what happened in a program i watch lol :D But also things such as having a thought and something in reality reacting to that thought.
It's quite freaky as i've never actually fully believed and i still kind of dont in a way. It would be nice to find someone with psychic abilities that i could talk to and see if this isn't just a passing phase... or if it really is something i've uncovered through being more open to myself and allowing me to be myself without any boundaries.

The best way to figure out if precognitive dreams such as those you describe are real or just deja-vu, is to start keeping a dream diary. Also, if you wake yourself about half-way through your sleep-cycle, say about 3/5 or 4 hours, stay awake for 10 or 15 minutes and then go back to sleep, you will be able to recall your dreams MUCH more easily. you should probably not do that too regularly, 'cause it does mess with your sleep-patterns, but to get you into the habit of recording dreams easily, it's a good place to start.
Just keep a pad next to your bed with two or three different coloured pens. First thing in the morning, write down or draw whatever you remember from the night before, leaving space to fill in stuff later. Kinda build an associative map throughout the day as you reread the page, with little arrows of one memory or impression leading on to another. I used the same technique to recall lost memories and stuff from my childhood. I would write down impressions, and then use those kinda as keys to access other memories that might have been long forgotten.
Good luck hon.

Wishy & Simone,
I cannot scientifically explain what you are experiencing, not do I really understand. Nevertheless, I accept as fact that you are experiencing these events. A girlfriend of mine has visions. My son sees the aura's that exists around a person. Neither one is inclined to make these things up.
To quote:
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
Hamlet, Act I, scene V
I think keeping a journal of what you experience is a wonderful idea. I would love to know what you discover - both from a scientific and spiritual basis.
I would venture this thought. As we cease repressing who we are, I believe that we strip away far more than our "false selves." I believe that we are also stripping away many other inhibitions placed upon us by the world, society and ourselves. Thus, for a moment, we have a chance to stand open and accepting of the world around us. It may be in this moment that the gifts you have spoken of are finally able to be expressed and explored.
I wish both of you great discovery!

You might just be more in touch with it, repressing less, exploring yourself more and hence your just more open to it.

Hehe. Scientifically it is a conundrum, to be sure. If you are interested, I can absolutely recommend Lyall Watson's books. He's a marine biologist who spent almost a decade travelling the world's oceans in his little boat, recording the most amazing things. He presents a fascinating view of the supernatural side of nature, of animals and the earth itself, that are amazing. His first book, 'Supernature' is a bit more theoretical and speculative, while 'Beyond Supernature' is a collection of case studies. He's written many books since, all worth a look.
I've also recently read a few books that go some way towards attempting a scientific explanation for these phenomena. 'The Holographic Universe' by Michael Talbot, goes into greater Detail about David Bohm's holographic model, and it makes for compelling reading. There's also a book called 'The Science of the Craft', which, while perhaps not as scientifically rigorous, nevertheless presents some really cool ideas to ponder.
Enjoy!
~Simone.
Well, I believe there's truth in it. The world would be such a dull place if there wasn't a bit of magic in it.
And I believe that by being more self-confident and comfortable with yourself, you can indeed open up to skills that you never thought you had, or that you might've lost.
Well, I've been unable to finish any story I've written, unable to like any song I've sung, unable to draw anything on my mind for these past years when I started to constantly feel there was something wrong about my body. It is my hope, that when I get to explore myself and become more comfortable with this (I -am- still in a spot of denial on occasion...like, every other minute...) that I will be able to open up to those sides of me again and be creative.
I also used to have precognitive dreams, lots of deja vĂș moments, but I haven't had any that I recall for the last four or five years.

I suppose that its a distinct possibility that we could have a sixth sense of sorts...
Every now and then I have some things that one could call a sixth sense.
Some in dreams and some things like a spider (Black widow) hovering above my head on a web and scaring me half to death after feeling it being there....
I had a dream of a Wolf barking at me once and found that from my blood, that I am an American Indian in heritage apparently and due to a few factors, my spirit guide is a wolf.
And stuff on TV....dont get me started on that....I talk about something on tv...and there it is either the next day, or on that day....
Within the month that my mother died, (and my cat got put down 2 years prior) I had a dream of spiders, and for me, spiders symbolize fear and death.
(and more then a few other visions in dreams, and few otherwise, but they have happened)
So it appears that it might be a possibility of either Slight ESP-ish stuff is in my blood or we are all natively slightly psychic, but it might vary from person to person.
However, I am unsure if this is appropriately accurate since I have yet to even start to transition :eusa_wall:
I think what people think of ESP is actually a different way of processing current sense data.
I've had three situations now in the following 3 months.
My mate dreamt i had a car accident and died (she's believed to be somewhat psychic too) shortly after i had a dream myself that i got knocked down by a car and had to have metal in my legs to help me walk again. Though... i've not had any accidents just YET! lol. When i'm volunteering at the sanctuary, i'm in the cattery all the time, one night i dreamt about dogs and rabbits and the following day i was walking the dogs and cleaning out the rabbits (which i never particularly do). Then once i was thinking to myself while walking and the thought: "It's be easier to get in touch with Jesus himself" passed through my head... seconds later a vicar passed me in the street lol.
And the other day i dreamt exactly what was going to happen on this program i watch and the following that exact thing happened. Note: i dont ever read tv guides or anything.

::) For somebody so creative, you don't have much imagination, do ya?
All logic, no fantasy. :icon_no:
i think there's enough wonder in the interplay between concious minds with other concious minds, and concious minds and the unconcious world to need to tack on things like ESP.

Whatever you say, jelly babe. So do
you have this ESP, this 'alternative way of processing data'?
not that i've noticed...you?
no, though i wish sometimes i did. your signature's blank.
not on my computer it isn't
oh ok.
so if not ESP, then what special talents does the Pica have? (besides looking better in a dress than the vast majority of the female population)

and in what areas do you procrastinate?
Posted on: April 16, 2008, 03:33:22 PM
but to answer the OP - are you talking psychic ability here?
Hum well to muddy the water a bit. I've always been rather intutive, Ha I call myself an intutive Engineer. I'm really good at picking up how someone feels or what they are doing. For example, I called a friend some time ago, she got half a word out and I knew that she was in bed with a guy. Before She could finish saying hello, I was apologizing for interrupting. She verified later on that I had it exactly right too.
One time in high school, boy that was some time ago, I had a feeling that one of the guys running the mile around the track would fall right before the finish line. I Knew it was going to happen and it did, He triped and fell not 5 feet from the finish line.
Of course Pica could be right too, it may just be how I process the 5 senses.
Beni
i may well be the world's finest procrastinator
True, I'm even kinda amazed you got around to even writing that.
me too, but it was only cos i was avoiding something else
I've had precognitive dreams. There happen in groups and then will kinda stop and calm down. I believe it has a physical explanation, but I could always be wrong. I dreamt of being in my hotel waking up and talking/asking about the maid and whether we should tip her, and my brother said yea or something. I woke up in exactly the same position, and thought I was waking up a second time, but my brother had not woken up yet, nor had the maid thing occurred.
Other weird stuff like that I must say.
I get deja vu with random phrases. I have my word or subject of the day, and you can count on it being repeated several times in the same day, even when utterly obscure, seemingly disconnected, and not mentioned in years.

That has to be the most annoying thing ever! It isn't just words though... could be anything from food to games i see at work! lol Someone will ask for a game i've never even heard of before at work thats been out years and years... then later, tons of people start trading it in!!! lol i'm like WTH! ???
Has anyone here experienced visions or out of body experiences?
Cindy
i have themes for the day also.
I tell people I'm not a procrastinator, I actually like doing it at the last minute.
I'm convinced that the happiest and smartest people on earth are those who procrastinate. They know two things that help them deal with life, have a better life when doing it, and keeps them from killing other people.
First. Oh the number of times I've rushed right out like some eager beaver and did something right off only to be told: "We don't need it anymore," "We want something totally different (and in blue)" or they forget about it entirely. The other day I spent five hours focusing the house lights for a TV shoot, only to have someone else make the decision that (shocking) the band really wanted the video to be about them, and they were not interested in shooting anything other than some stock images in the house. Never turned a single one of those lights on the whole time. The generator we had to bring in, hook up, run 300 feet of very heavy feeder cable - never used. We had to turn it off, and then coil up 300 feet of very heavy feeder cable. Great.
Now I try and be mature, and casual, and just think that I'm making money, my crew is making money, it could be worse, and we just laugh it off. We've done it enough that it just does not phase us. However, we've done it enough to make sure that such amusing incidents are kept to a minimum. Hence, procrastination. Had we delayed putting the Genny set-up together for a few more hours, we might well have avoided doing the entire pointless task, and spent that time drinking coffee and getting paid. A better option than dragging feeder cable.
Second. And this is so key. There is this period between the end of a task, and its use where a near endless amount of people are willing to stream past you and tell you in so many words that it is: "Wrong" "They could have done it better" "They would have done it different" - or even worse, suggest that you now take it apart and re-do it their way. That's where the killing other people comes in. So, you need to keep this time frame, this window of opportunity for the march of the morons to a dead absolute minimum. Many years ago now I traveled with a road box that had this written on its side: We've been here since 7am, and its now a half an hour till show time and what would your whinny assed opinion be? That pretty much sums it up. So, here too, procrastination comes to the rescue, by making sure that nothing is ready until it need to be used (after which its a moot point) you cut that deadly interval down to seconds.
As it turns out, most things were not all that important in the first place.
Chill.

Ditto, it feels kinda validating to hear someone else describing something similar.
From the number of responders, I wonder if it some kinda ESP thing. If you think about it, we would be the perfect group to have a development of that particular thing. Our brains are certainly wired differently then 90% of the population. This has the makings for a poll! ;D

I've always enjoyed above all, experiencing life in terms of enhanced emotion, perception, spirit, and expression. My sensitivity and intuition also add to the way that I relate to the world. These are all elements that are shared with other women, and other MTF TS's. They're part of the TS experience, and part of what makes TS life so very special and so truly rewarding.
I've had various intuitive and extrasensory experiences in my life. I read tarot cards for a while, and people said I often told them things about their situations that a stranger wouldn't have known.
FWIW, in some societies, gender variant people were often shamans or spiritual healers.

Interesting. Now that I think about it, my handwriting drastically improved after I came out of the closet.
gells always seem to have neater handwriting.
I do believe that psychic channels that were already part of the neural pathways in our mind but dormant are opened to full capacity by the introduction of estrogen, enhancing any of the other sensitivities we already had that are open. Ya, I know, just crazy me again.
