Title: ITS OFFICIAL
Post by: Mario on June 06, 2006, 12:00:24 AM
Had my day in court today for my name change. The judge was cool, no pronouns, no names. BUT, when there was a misunderstanding about getting the document certified I ended up waiting around for 2 and a half hours for absolutely no reason, the guy from the court room I was in was trying to help me get my file and kept referring to me as "she" BUT, Then when I went to the DMV, the lady there was very gender orientated. She called me Marco and explained to me that you need to get you SS card changed in the system first, then 2 days later they can extract it from the system and then do the drivers licence change.

Gratz dude. Marco is talking about name change, not gender change. The latter has some different requirements depending on where you are.

And Brownstein's letter got my gender changed on everything important, btw, Marco.

Hey Dennis,

I will just have to get another licence after surgery too. I just need to get one now as well. I can't keep walking around with the one I have in my pocket. But that is good to know, I wasn't sure if just top surgery was enough to have the sex changed on there. Good deal. Cause that won't be until the next year or two.

Depends on practice where you live. In BC, you just need to present as the gender you want on the licence and have a letter saying you have gender dysphoria. I had had surgery anyway by that time, so I just presented the surgery letter.

Brownstein words his kind of vaguely, says he has surgically corrected your gender, rather than actually describing that it's chest surgery. Works in some jurisdictions apparently. Others require a more detailed letter.

Just to interject my hopeful opinion...

Since Brownstein is in California, I'm sure (or hopeful I should say) that the letter he puts together would satisfy California law.  And Marco's therapist will do the gender dysphoria letter if that's needed too.  As a matter of fact, that is probably what letter Marco is getting this weekend!  Cool...it's coming along!!!  :icon_geekdance: I do this little dance when I'm excited, I don't wear the glasses though...(used to, but not in my adult life).
