Title: Are You a Makeup Maven or a Makeup Mishap?
Post by: mickiejr1815 on May 08, 2008, 09:41:36 AM
You're a makeup maven
Did you miss your calling as a professional makeup artist? You know how to make your skin look flawless and to let your best features do all the talking. You probably have an inherent love of makeup, rake in all of the professional tips you can and have experimented enough to know what looks best for your individual face. Here are the correct answers just in case you missed any:
Your makeup shouldn't match your outfit exactly or it'll be overkill, but you can use variations of the same color or other colors to complement your look.
A big, soft brush is best used for applying a powdered blush or bronzer because it will help cover the entire area better rather than streaking on the color.
Choose a concealer color that's the same shade or a little lighter than your skin, dab (don't rub) it on the entire eye area from the inside corner to the outer eye, and set it all with a loose powder. A concealer that's shades lighter than your skin will give you a raccoon look.
To fill in sparse eyebrows, you can use pencils, powders or liquids. Just make sure the color is 1-2 shades lighter than the hair on your head and use light feathery strokes to blend in the color.
Your foundation should match your skin color exactly, and the only way to truly accomplish this is to test it out on the sides of your face.
To make lips look fuller, choose a lip pencil the same shade as your lips, line the natural edge of your lips, blend well, and finish with gloss. Dark lipstick tends to make lips look smaller and drawing beyond the natural border of your lips looks unnatural.
Apply blush as your last step: Smile to find the apples of your cheeks, and dust on the blush toward your ear with short, up and down strokes to avoid ending up with a dark streak of color.
Eye shadow shouldn't match your eye color because your eyes will disappear. Pick contrasting shades or variations of your eye color to really make them stand out.
Your night look can and should be more dramatic than your day look, but pick one feature to really play up and use neutral colors on the rest of your face.
An eyelash curler and a coat of mascara applied to your lashes immediately opens up the eyes. Eyeliner can be used on just the top lid or the top and bottom, but using eyeliner on the bottom only will make your eyes look droopy.
