I finally scheduled an appointment with a psychologist that has experience with gender issues. My first appointment is Monday, which is a lot sooner than I thought it would be. It only took 5 months of continually putting it off. Now that I made that step, the whole idea doesn't seem as scary :)
Congratulations, Vivian. I hope that everything goes well. :)

Good for you, Vivian,
You'll feel better by taking action rather than putting it off.

You'll find yourself saying that about a LOT of things over the next year or two ;)
Congratulations! It's a HUGE step to take!

Thanks for all the encouragement!
So I went, and guess what? The world didn't end! Amazing! :icon_joy:
I was so relaxed up until a couple hours before my appointment, but then it kind of hit me all of a sudden that..."hmmm, I'm about to drive 90 minutes to talk to someone I've never met about something I've never actually said out loud to anyone else. What did I go and get myself into!!"
I kind of thought I knew what I was expecting, and I kind of did and didn't. I was planning on going in and just talking about things. And I half expected to be lectured about what I should or shouldn't feel or something. Instead, she reassured me that, of all things, it's ok to want to be myself...especially after repressing that for so long. Instead of feeling interrogated, it was just really positive and supportive.
Things might actually be ok :)
That's wonderful, Vivian! It sounds like you found a good match. I hope it will continue to be a fruitful experience for you. :)
