I was just reading an article in a south american newspaper which talks about Katoy SRS in Thailand. Beats me! I'd never heard of that term before, but thankfully now I know what it is.
Anyway...the article talks about two women who traveled to Bangkok to have their SRS performed by a famous surgeon there. While they were waiting for their initial consultation at the hospital, two men in white coats approached them and introduced themselves as surgeons of a different hospital, and after talking to these two women for a few minutes, I don't know how, these two so called doctors convinced the two women to have their SRS at their "clinic". One of the women says that she felt something was not quite right, but she did nothing about it because these "surgeons" were going to charge her only U$ 2,500, and besides she didn't have the necessary requirements set by the SOC. In addition, these "surgeons' had promised to give her "a friend discount" and a "normal' vagina.
When this woman woke up from anesthesia, the pain she felt was so intense that she was literally crying for some pain medication, and nobody seemed to come to her rescue. Two weeks after the surgery, she realized that what these two doctors had done to her was commonly called in Thailand as katoy SRS. Katoys are male transgender prostitues who only want the outside appearance of a vagina; needless to say, these katoy surgeries result in a flat appearance of the crotch but there is no vaginal cavity, no labia, no clitoris, no nothing basically since they remove everything else when they "operate".
Now this woman says that she has to spend much more money to correct what these butchers have done to her, and wants the transsexual community to be aware of her story.
Wow...I almost had a heart attack when I read this. I can't imagine how some people can take advantage of our desperation and jeopardize our health for few bucks.
Have you ever heard anything about Katoy SRS? I hadn't, until now.

P.S. the article doesn't say anything else about the other woman. Hopefully, she ran away from there as fast as she could.

Katoy is the general term for a transsexual prostitute in Thailand, whether pre-op or post-op. It doesn't refer to a specific type of surgery. Some Katoy have full SRS as we know the term. Some, I would assume out of economics, probably have a cheaped down version as described.

I remember reading about Katoys in Thailand, but don't remember reading anything about their surgeries. I see two things that the two women would have avoided and that they went for a cheaper surgery while they were in the clinic and that one wasn't following the SOC. I know some think that the SOC is out of date and not right for the Transsexual. I feel it is a very worthy document and procedure to follow so something like this doesn't happen. As far as how can some one prey off the defenses of people who really need the surgery, well they were there for their surgery and they changed their mind cause they wanted something for nothing. You should always check on the doctor, even in the USA. I have heard of horror stories right here in the USA.
