Title: Senior Prom
Post by: Elwood on May 30, 2008, 10:14:28 PM
So.

Tomorrow I'm going to my Senior Prom at the House of Blues! I am terribly excited. I hear a lot about horror stories such as drunk driving and deaths, drug accidents, virginity mishaps and most common, break ups. Now, I'm not much of a gossiper, but anyone here have some personal Senior Ball or Junior Prom horror stories to tell?

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi5.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy168%2Fpenguin_furuba%2FBluesBros%2F01.jpg&hash=bf3b7c9d3754c31c836fcd58273077c3cf9e00c0)

Ah, the House of Blues. What an cute little building stuck between an ugly $5.99 store and another building undergoing construction. Anyone who's recognized my username or signature has figured out I'm a big Dan Aykroyd and Blues Brothers fan. The House of Blues really is his personal venue... though he didn't establish the place alone. And this location actually really isn't a big deal, as it's one of the smaller ones. But big things have happened here. The shame? Our prom is here only because kids know that a lot of people get drunk/high here and that there are rock concerts. My dumb peers know nothing about Mr. Aykroyd or Mr. Elwood Blues.

Anyway... back to the topic.

Your prom? :)

*sighs* That IS sad, what a bunch of dorks. But it is really cool that your prom is being held there. I never went to my high school prom. Being around a bunch of stupid, trendy morons is not my idea of fun.

Thanks, guys!

I had a great night and everyone loved the fact that I was dressed like a Blues Brother for the occasion.  ;D

But it was funny. I had a pack incident. It fell out, but thank god it stayed in my pants. LOL. I mean, I almost didn't want to wear it to the prom but... meh.

Glad you had a great time at the prom? So, which blues brother did you dress as? I presume your namesake, Elwood?

Sorry about the packing incident, at least it stayed in your pants, could've been worse...  :o

I'm always an Elwood. :P I'd have to really do a lot to my body/face to pull a Jake. Like, serious make up and probably a fat suit. Lol.

I can sing both parts, though. ;D I'm proud of that.

During my freshman year, I was dating a junior and we went to her prom. It was for an all-girls Catholic high school and it was held at, of all places, Bimbo's 365 in San Francisco.

My junior year, I went to my school's prom with a girl who was a friend. Nothing much to report there, other than she eventually married the best man from my wedding.

By the time of the prom my senior year, my girlfriend and I were already engaged for all intents and purposes. (We were married 3 months after graduating high school and will be celebrating our 20th anniversary later this year. But, I digress...) Neither of us really cared about proms that year, so we didn't go.

Sorry if you were looking for something exciting and got this instead.

OK, Elwood it is! I loved that movie, watched it more than a few times. My favorite line...

"No Ma'am, we're musicians."

Do you play harp? Or other instruments?

I'm into playing acoustic fingerpicked blues and slide guitar, especially vintage stuff from 78s.

I love that line, too. :P

Blues harp, acoustic & electric guitar, some piano/keyboard, vocals (of course!), drums (a little)...

All the boys thought there were being unique and clever at my prom wearing a tipical tux PLUS pink vest.

bah

I wore a fuxin zoot suit, baby. Al lthe girlies loved it  ;) Would of preferred a prom dress, but I was not out yet!

The worst that happened at my prom was some girl tried to give her date a BJ in the stair well. thats why security tried to cut it off and make everyone only use the elevator

Heheh.

Every time I found someone sucking face, I said, "psst, there's a unisex bathroom upstairs!" Haha.
