Okay, I don't know if this has been posted yet. I searched and didn't see.
I tend to identify with Hinata of Naruto. She is extremely shy, kind, but really determined to change herself. I consider her one of the brighter patches in Naruto. I guess the reason I identify with Hinata is because she has a lot of personality traits like me. I'm a very bashful guy, can't hurt a fly if I had to, and I'm also determined to change myself.
Another person I identify with is Xellos of The Slayers. Xellos is a non caring, easy-going, and secretive kind of person. Once again, he has a lot of my personality traits. I'm very secretive. I don't like to reveal much to anyone. I'm also non caring, I think. I get that from my grandfather who doesn't give a damn what you ask of him. He'll follow along regardless.
Anyways, please tell me if you identify with anyone in a show/book/real life/whatever.
I'm sorry if this has been posted. I'll take it down if you want me too.
Pretty much the people I work with, and too much else. Never did the hero deal, or tried to model myself on anyone else. Never saw that many people like me to use.
Okay, I guess I'm just too normal. I mean I can actually see that there are people that are a bit like me. Maybe not exactly like me, but a bit like me. I'm sorry if this comes off as rude. I don't really mean it that way.
Regardless thanks for replying. I do appreciate it, tekla.
Hell, I don't what I mean. I guess I'm having another a**hole moment.
Well back in the day were were all freaks, and we held that pretty close. And there were a lot of people over the years who had qualities, skills, attitudes and the like that I worked hard to incorporate into my own life, but I don't think that in doing that I was identifying with them, as much as emulating a trait or two. But, over the years, when you add it up, I've spent more time with some of the people I work with than with anyone else, I know them and they know me - for decades now. And I think that we identify with each other through the work, though the stories, through the good and bad times.
Okay, I'm sorry about my previous post. It was a little irrational and insensitive. I apologize tekla.
No problem, I think that a lot of people see that word in differing contexts. Does it mean hero, or emulate, or see yourself in, or just feel very comfortable with, or who you are really with? Could mean any and all those things.
OK, I wish I were Myrna Loy...or at least looked like her.
Seriously, tho...like most folks (I guess) I try to emulate the best qualities of the people I come in contact with. Sometimes it is a way of thinking, or a way of walking, or just fashion sense, but it is a rare person who doesn't have one or two good qualities that may be worth working toward.

I would love to look like Nigella Lawson. :) She is smart, classy and can cook like nobody's business!!

She was and still is gorgeous. She knew what she wanted and went for it. Whether it was in her carrerr or her personal life.

Haha.
Steve Martin. No joke. As far as I can tell, he and I have a lot in common. Same with Dan Aykroyd. I sometimes feel like I'm they're secret love child. :P
Here's a great picture of the comics being goofs together:

I really think I mostly relate to them on a comedy level... somewhat on a personal level but not a great deal. Because all the actors I THINK I relate to are really just strangers to me. But I also know the characters they create reflect some of who they are. I think Steve's likeable characters are easy for just about everyone to relate to at some point, whereas most people probably have difficulty relating to Aykroyd, who, overall, is just a weirdo. :P
I can also say I've been personally INSPIRED by a long list of actors including Christopher Lloyd, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrel... you get the point, SNL guys mostly. Haha.
Tom Hanks is one of my heroes, but I don't really relate to him. I consider him more of a role model. He went to school, earned his acting career, remains a very secretive celebrity (which is healthy), and he seems to be one of the cleanest celebrities I've know of, too. Then again, he might have a lot of skeletons in his closet.

There are people I admire and aspire to be like, but I don't exactly identify with them. I would like to be like them but I don't think I have those qualities. Mostly I strive to be a better Loki-head.
I have to admit, the person I identify with is ...? Nichole
For me she seems just right. ;)
At least Nichole is a real person, not a media persona. I find it somehow out of sorts that so many people ID with non-real persons, or outright fictional characters.
I suppose. Although, the people I mentioned ARE real people, with real lives, with the sort of job I wanna have. I live to entertain. :)

I'm sorry you feel that way...
I didn't list myself because I guess that is a given.
I think identifying with ourselves is supposed to be a given, but I don't entirely identify with myself. My body is wrong, my personality fluctuates. Some days I'm the greatest comedian, on my toes, everyone's laughing. I was a hit last night at prom, giving smiles away. But other times, I'm a lonely, depressed introvert. That doesn't feel like who I "should" be.
I don't consider actors "media persona" as I don't JUST watch their films. I investigate a lot more and try to understand their role in the filming industry, as ACTORS, not CHARACTERS. I try to understand their JOB, their actual OCCUPATION, not their "magic" or whatever it is that makes people so obsessed with actors. Their good looks or something? I don't know. But I am into acting as a profession that I take seriously and I resent that all actors are automatically "media icons" and no longer actual people.
You look at my signature and you see Elwood Blues, a character, playing his harmonica during a show. I see Dan Aykroyd portraying a character, thinking about his every move in his head to make sure he's portraying this character correctly, wearing the character's shoes and putting on a nicely made facade for the audience to enjoy. As soon as those cameras are off he probably shakes off the excitement of performing and moves on to whatever the next filming job he has to do is, or rests, or writes. Because he too is human and has an actual job. And performers are not up there just "faking" it. Not the good ones, anyway. There's a lot to performing.
This might be strange, but I identify with 'uke' characters in yaoi. I almost always relate to male characters instead of female ones. Haruhi from Host Club might be the only female character I can relate to. It's her attitude. :D No one specific character though, usually. I do wish I had been born a 'pretty boy' like Tamaki from Host Club...but then again, I don't know if I could ever be that foolish...
I wish people loved me the way the characters fall in love with Haruhi or Tohru (Fruits Basket) or characters like that. I wish I had that one redeeming quality that people just can't resist.

The reason these are animated characters, and not real ones, is that does not happen in real life. Outside of being an heiress. Money, in large amounts, is hard to resist.

perhaps I should say that I admire qualities that these two characters have. plus, i'd just like to be cute.
I just like real qualities that I've seen real people do in real life. But I'm a bear of very little brain.
I want to be William Wallace. Does that count?

Only if your looking at the real William Wallace, and not Mel Gibson's version of him.

Sadly, I've not seen many qualities in people I've met that I'd actually want...*sigh* (I like you guys, though :D)

To hell with media personas. But isn't the whole point of fictional characters to be people we can identify with?
Most of my heroes are people who I've met. Some are musicians, some are in the LGBTQA community, some are even family members ;) They're all just really cool people who I admire and learn from.

I don't relate to any famous people but there are bits about a lot of fictional characters I relate to of course they have been created to be relate able. I don't relate to anybody thats "normal"
I have to say, in terms of role models (and not people I necessarily personally relate to), I love Sir David Attenborough and Howard Goodall. I think they're brilliant.
There are others, both living and dead, but Attenborough and Goodall are possibly the most influential.
