Title: Going off to America for my GRS with Dr. Bowers
Post by: Blanche on June 07, 2008, 05:00:29 AM
July 3, 2008 is my day.  It may be rescheduled for july 7 because of the American holiday but I don't care.  I haven't gotten a word yet so I will be leaving Zurich this coming Monday.  My consultation is on June 26.  I have requested three months off work just as a precaution.  I want to enjoy the scenery of Colorado before my big day.  My niece Eleonor is going with me so I will not be alone.  Tee-hee! I'm so excited.  we'll talk more when I come back home.  Cheers! :)

Best wishes Blanche! And congratulations!

I'm glad you'll be enjoying the area a bit too, as I've heard it's REALLY beautiful there... and even the town itself has some neat historical things to see.

Congratulations and all the very best in Trinidad, Blanche. I understand both the town and the services, hospital and staff you will meet are A-1.

Getting there early is a very good idea if you need to acclimate to 5000 ft (1525m) altitude.  A friend recently had her surgery with Dr. Bowers, and she commented on the shortness of breath she experienced.

Congratulations, Blanche!

Congratulations, Blanche.  I have heard such wonderful things about everything that will be done for you there.  If you have never been to Colorado, it's a wonderful chance to see one of the most truly beautiful parts of the world.  Very best of luck to you!

Coming from Swiz, some of the north and central parts of Colorado will be not all that different, Blanche might try the southwest section, Durango and Mesa Verde.

Durango and Mesa Verde are highly recommended.  Also, I suggest Colorado National Monument.  I don't know how much driving you are up to.  There are many kilometers between.  Trinidad is a quaint western town.  Everyone there is very nice.

Congrats dear..... I wish you the very best!

Have a wonderful, safe trip, my dear. :)  Enjoy your complementary peanuts and orange juice  ;D...oh wait, but perhaps they will give you the ever famous Lasagna since it is an international flight! Enjoy the U.S. and congratulations Blanche!

Thank you all for your support.  I'm finally home.  I'm very impressed with Dr. Bowers & her staff.  The quality of care was beyond what I expected.  I will always have nothing but the fondest of memories of everything I experienced whilst I was there.  I'm slowly healing, sored due to the 12-hour flight but doing quite well.  Cheers!

Congratulations Blanche!

The trip you took and the path you traveled may have both seemed very long.  But while the trip may be over, the journey is just beginning!

Congratulations again!

I wish I was in your position Blanche.  All over and done.  I can't describe how I feel right now.  Very anxious & scared.  Quite happy to know that all went well with you.

She's back from Colorado! hooray!  :D You sound happy Blanche & I'm happy that you're happy.  Dr. Bowers is the best! I can't get over the joy of the time whilst I was there either.  She's an amazing woman!  I send her "thank you" and "Christmas" cards often.  She made me whole & I'm quite grateful for that!

Thank you all very kindly!  It's an amazing feeling that words can't describe.  The only downside's that I loathe to dilate but peeps are telling me it does get better! Cheers! :)
