Title: breast reduction - a little nervous

Hey all. I'm a broke 18-yr-old ftm, so I opted for a breast reduction "in the meantime". It's only $150 for the surgery and a night in the hospital with my insurance, plus my meds which will also be unde rmy insurance for the most part.

I feel really nervous about it, though. Right now I carry D/DD on my chest, and this surgery would bring me down to a small B. I'm really happy and excited to have so much gone, but I already know that it probably won't be enough. Right now, I look even bigger than a B when I'm binded, so I think it will feel great not to bind most of the time or to just be less aware of my huge chest. I'm afraid of getting really depressed, especially during recovery when I'll be in a lot of pain and I'll be thinking about how it's not even enough.

I know that it could be 6-10 years before I'd save up enough for top surgery, so I'm going to have this done in 15 days, 8 days after my 19th b-day. I'm still really nervous though, and a bit scared. My chest will be cut open! Any word of wisdom for little ole me? Thanks.

Well my chest surgery didn't hurt much at all. Dunno about a reduction. I had em totally whapped off.

You're young, you'll heal fast :)

We are rooting for you. Congrats on your up coming reduction!
Dennis is right you will heal quickly. I have known friends who have had the surgey and they have been very happy and expereinced a minimal amount of discomfort. I think all surg is scary though.

Congrats on your surgery! Don't focus on it not being "enough" or whatever. I know somebody who had a reduction, she said she didn't feel much pain at all, and that it was such a relief.

Thanks everybody. You've all helped to put me more at ease. I'm still a bit nervous, but that's pretty much a given considering I'll be goign under the knife.


btw, Nero...I could never reply to your PMs...I can't send messages either. I don't know what's wrong with it... *scratches head*

What's wrong is you have to have 15 posts I believe. Just figured that out myself. I'd been wondering why people never seem to respond to my PMs. Was starting to think maybe I'm just a bit too uncoventional. :D
