Title: Workout Suggestions
Post by: 4Sparky on June 19, 2008, 11:31:31 PM
Hello all. I am new to this blogging concept so please bear with me... I have been on T for almost 3 years and I was wondering if anyone could spare a few workout suggestions/tips. I do the normal bench press and arm workouts, but I can't seem to make progress on my belly, back or chest  :-\ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance...also, how do you upload a pic onto this thing? Thanks again!!

Welcome Sparky. I'm Nero.
<offers hand>

I could use some workout suggestions myself. You need 15 posts before you can upload a picture.

Yeah, my docs have been telling me since day 1 to start working out but of course I didnt and now I wish I had. I am no where near over weight or anything but I would like to look as good as I feel. Im sure someone has some good ideas for us.

In the past I've had terrific successs with Body for Life by Bill Phillips.  The book (very inspirational!) used to cost only $10 or so and all the profits went to charity (make a wish?).

That reminds me...I can't seem to get of my arse to work out and I'm starting T soon (endo appt July 2!!) so...time to reread the book and get inspired.

Fabulous program and you'll get results in 12 weeks.

greetings- What are you doing for working out now? Usually you should group 2 body parts together, I do back and chest together, Bi's and tris, and legs and shoulders. I am not an expert on any of this just a gym rat. Also mix up your work out, changing it about every 6 weeks, by changing the specific exercises you do for the muscle groups. I used a trainer for some time and have logged all types of workouts. Now I can mix them up when needed.
Are you looking for specific exercises for each muscle groups? Also do you go to a gym (where you can have a spotter) or do it at home by yourself? I also do abs every other day.

Thank you for your suggestions. My stomach isnt fat, but not defined at all. Right now, I work on my Total Gym and Bench A LOT. So my workout focuses mainly on my arms

to help the definition come through, try doing some cardion to help with belly fat.  it may not be "fat" but if theres anything there it will hide your abs.  do some ab workouts like planks and leg lifts.  crunches arent that effcient since the core's job is to kee the body imobile, not... crunch up like a worm.

Old school for chest is push up, every kind you can think of, one arm, diamond, wide hands, regular, military. For back, pull ups, all varieties, wide grip, close grip, hand forward and reverse.  If you have no place to do pull ups get a resistance band and attach it to a high point and pull on it in the same way, wide, close front grip back so on. This is what I did when I was traveling thru Asia last year (got it from P90X workout program). With abs variety is also the key, planks are awesome because they use ab muscles not used in a crunch or other typical ab exercises.
A long time ago I had a total gym at that point it was based on resistance, I am not sure if it is the same now. You will get a great workout for arms with a great set of dumbells, where you control the weight better and it is a free weight so you are responsible  for the whole motion. This also helps because in order to do curls (all kinds) properly you have to use your core (abs!). For bench just make sure your doing varied inclines/declines maybe 4 types. For bulk 8 reps each set.
And of course there is always the eating side of things. Your ab muscles could be buried by a small layer of fat or not popping out because of your current diet? Cardio always works like suggested above.
Just a few ideas,
Good luck!
