Title: Friends in Atlanta ???
Post by: tisha on June 28, 2008, 11:28:48 PM
It is sometimes very hard being alone. Some people at work know I'm trans and they are ok with it. But at the same time being transgendered has cost me my family and basically everything . So, the past year and a half I have been trying to put my life back together and be my true self. That part is going great. And when I'm out I seem to pass ok with just eye liner and a t-shirt and jeans. But we all need friends. Why is it so hard to meet other transgendered people just to be friends, talk, go shopping or just to know someone else is a phone call away when I've had a disappointing day ? I live 20 minutes from down town Atlanta, Anyone else near ???

Quite a few of us in the Atlanta area.  I personally am in the Southern Crescent.  You might want to contact Atlanta Gender Exploration which is an open transgender support group that meets in the Grant Park/Southeast Atlanta area.

I know this topic is quite old, but I thought it couldn't hurt to revive it. I have lived here in Atlanta (OTP north Fulton) since 2000 and I am just starting out on this quest to figure myself out. Been fighting the internal battle for several decades and only now just finding out that I'm not alone. It would be nice if there were some others here, like tisha said, to just talk to, so shopping, etc. It would be nice to know that I'm not so alone any more.
