"Three years ago, it introduced a sensitivity training program for all managers, 50 per cent of which was lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT)-related. Maybe they need such a program. Maybe TD managers are rednecks. But if I was pulled away from my duties (i.e. making money for the shareholders) to get in touch with my LGBT side, I'd be less than pleased.

I know because I've worked in newsrooms that have employed similar sensitivity training programs -- don't leer at the female staffers, don't make racist or sexist jokes, don't pat the short guy on the head, that sort of thing -- and found the whole exercise demeaning, embarrassing and a colossal waste of time and resources."
