my names krista but most of my freinds just call me avril, avie, or av cause i look and sound like avril lavigne (the singer). i am a sk8ter punk by definition considering i skate board and i am punkish by nature but my style ranges anywhere from hardcore gothic princess to scene kid, i am intersexed, i recently was tested and diagnosed as IS, i LOVE music and i plan on being a professional singer when i get out of high school, im like 5' 6" tall 153 lbs. and im pretty small boned, i am COMPLETELY insane when it comes to just being me, im kinda on the tomboyish side meaning that ill hang out with the boys and im not afraid to kick some ass and ->-bleeped-<- off when nesscessary, and last but not least i am 17. :D i cant think of much more but your free to ask questions if you want. :D

thanks for the warm welcome everyone,
avril

Hi, Avie, and welcome to Susan's!

This is a great place to share your thoughts and experiences and ask your questions.  There is a lot of collective wisdom here.

I haven't been 17 since 1969 and I wasn't IS but this old penguin has seen a few things since then.

In 2002 I opened to myself and the rest of the world in Susan's transgender chat and since then I have not looked back.  I feel comfortable with myself but I sometimes wish I had started when I was 17 instead of buying into the role that society had in mind for me.

It wasn't long after opening to myself when I went to a transsexual support group meeting and met a wonderful young woman who had a bubbly personality, an infectious smile, and thick, dark hair.  She also had the waist and hips of a woman but was cast in a male role, and she hated it.  We became good friends over time and she was one of the regulars who hung out at my apartment.

Some time later I found out why she had such a feminine countenance.  She was genetically xxy.  She was not found to be so until she was almost 30 years old.  Until that time she was a bundle of contradictions.

Why am I telling you this?  Because it can take someone a long time to begin to live the life that is truly theirs to live and not what the rest of the world wants them to live.  Enjoy your life and sing your songs and don't let anyone stop you from growing!
