DURHAM, N.C. - It was her third time seeing John Edwards in person, but this time he was with his wife and kids shopping at Target. So the supporter of the former presidential candidate kept her distance.

But when she went home, Pam Spaulding did what she does most nights: She blogged about it. A few days later she got a response to her post about the sighting: "You should've spoken up!"

The comment was from Elizabeth Edwards.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that Spaulding, a Durham native, is a bit of a local celebrity these days, recognized in supermarkets and airports by her dirty-blond dreadlocks. And it's all because of her blog, Pam's House Blend, which turns 4 years old this month. The progressive, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issue-centered blog is also one of the first to acquire press credentials to this year's Democratic National Convention, which is granting access to bloggers for the first time.
