Your favorite way to work out?

I like to just throw some music on and dance and lift weights intermittently.
What about you?

I like machinery cause I feel like I'm actually gaining something from using it. Including the weightlifting machinery (cause I don't know enough to do free weightlifting)

right now my fav way to work out is DDR, but that gets boring.  my ideal workout is going on a long walk through parks w/o any other peeps.  just nature and myself.  that's a rare treat.

What about just plain work?

I like working on a construction site and driving nails into wood.

My second favorite thing to do is well, other kinds of work like landscaping and painting and...
I guess I was born to be a builder. I plan on joining stage craft in the fall so I can build tables and chairs and stuff...

Also I like to lift weights once in a while. I prefer free weights but my dad also has a work out machine I use. I keep trying to get back into running.

If Outdoors I want to go back to cycling.

I like walking and riding my bike, its all you need as long as you do it religiously.  Remember, according to the newest research walking a mile is the same amount of work-out as running a mile, it just that the running is over with faster.

I do a gym on my days off, and when I work that's enough, though I still try to walk the five miles anyway.

Outdoors anything, but especially hiking, mountain biking, and plain old long bike rides.

Free weights, most definitely.  Running and rowing machines are good.  Actual rowing is even better.

And working in the woods--cutting, hauling, splitting, hauling again, tossing in the basement, then piling massive amounts of firewood.  I'm drenched in sweat by the end of it and smell like a tree.  It's good work.

Jogging.

Also to save gasoline. I sometimes run from my office to home, which is about 6 kim (about 4 miles) and takes about 40 mins. In summer, I feel I lose weight too much and run just every 2 or 3 days. I prefer running in the evening, because my face is tanned too much after running in the morning. Also, people's attention to me is far less in the evening.

Some guys worry about my security, joking that some men could stalk me in the dark. Fortunately, it is very safe in my area and no problem even in running alone at midnight.

I like walking, and try to walk between 30-35 miles per week. Also, I really enjoy swimming, and it feels great after you swim a mile and feel the good kind of achey all over. :)

Elliptical trainer all the way.  Nothing like a machine built for the soul purpose of torturing you in the most efficient method possible.  I'm sure they would've loved it during the Spanish Inquisition :P

I'm extremely limited because of injuries, allergies, and the dire predictions of my childhood dermatologists that I would probably get skin cancer (hasn't happened yet, knock wood) in adult life because of my insanely delicate skin. Sigh. Not very manly.

I still have my barbells, but I can't use them anymore. I actually enjoyed doing reps, as long as I had a tape to watch.

In my living room, I have a stationary bike (recumbent so I don't have to further destroy my hands). Apart from that, I like nighttime walks around the neighborhood. I had to give up canyon hiking when I messed up my ankle a few years ago. Too bad--I live across the street from an awesome canyon wherein dwell many varieties of interesting and beautiful flora and fauna. On the other hand, I don't miss the industrial-strength sunscreen that I had to wear while I hiked. It always stung my eyes and made them water. And I could never wear shorts while hiking, no matter how much sunscreen I put on my legs. I get contact dermatitis and other unpleasant effects when I come in direct contact with greenery. And during "pollen season," the canyon could get unpleasant in still other ways. At the time, I thought it was all worth it because hiking is fairly strenuous exercise, and there was always something pretty to look at.

But now I am a bike-riding vampire who lurks around the neighborhood after dark. It's better than no exercise at all, and I don't have to worry about bursting into flames or instantly desiccating and exploding into charcoal-colored organic powder.

Biking is my favorite workout. But, I also live close enough to the office that I walk to work. My daily commute gives me nearly 2 miles round trip.

My wife and I usually go for a 2.2 mile walk around the neighborhood most evenings, too.

i walk to get places, climb stairs when i could use lifts - tend to move a lot on my tours, tensing the old legs to maintain balance...but who am i kidding? I am lazy and fat, and that is much more the result of being sedentary than any huge food intake.

I have been doing all my exercises in the computer room doing the deep knee bends and the stationary walk, and I have also started a new set of exercises to get rid of my pot, I hate my pot, everyone thinks I'm pregnant. The only part I do like is for them to actually think I am actually young enough to be pregnant. I am looking forward to doing my walks outdoors again now that it is nice and sunny out again.

Hehe, besides wiggling.. Which I'm serious about.

I water plants at an office complex of several acres.  Takes around 10 hours to water the whole place.  I get my workout carrying heavy hoses all day~

What about the Tuvok shuffle.
But I still like good old rock music and dance my butt off and do the hair flip.
Kirakero I can't lift heavy stuff much anymore, just don't have the upper body strength. But I still have my jar opener Wing Walker.  :D  But I would love a nice apartment size front yard and plant my own  garden. Or I could do like I did in a previous apartment I had, I grew plants all over the apartment. Kind of nice during the winter, one can pretend it's summer time with all the greenery. I love working with plants and I miss gardening.

Ok Gnawty,
Probably a stupid question, but Le Parkuer?
Please explain, because I sure it is one of those things I will be slapping the side of my head over, once you tell me.
And while I am here. All of you bikers, and runners should go and purchase a jump rope.
I use one in my workout, and before I started working out with one I thought it would be a piece of cake. And besides if it is raining, snowing, or just miserable outside you can do it inside,  just watch out for light fixtures!!!!!!!

Five days a week? I think it will help you maintain body shape. Taking care of your knees. Even with ample streching before and after, I had knee pains occasionally about 20 years ago when I sometimes exercised for > 6 hours a day. Slim people are advantageous as they have less body area to attack, or Taekwondo itself can make you body slim. Nowadays I just run for exercise and no knee pain.

I keep hoping that if I can lose a significant amount of weight, that will take a great deal of strain off my bad ankle and then I can go back to light hiking again. It's great exercise, I love the canyons, and it seems criminal to live right across the street from a terrific canyon and not take advantage of it.

Hi, Camden,

I saw a lof of people who had knee pains after just starting it. Proper stretching and regular exercise would gradually decrease the frequency of knee pains. For starters, knee pain is nearly inevitable. Good luck!
