Heya today out of sheer boredom I threw in the name I use online into google and hit search to see if anyplace I had been had been crawled and it turned up posts from Susan's forums @_@. I know you have to be careful in different ways about being outed through the internet and what not but aren't there ways to modify the robots file so google doesn't crawl the forums or is that something that Susans wants so that people can find it?
Well, spiders play a part in determining the overall rating of a site on search engines like Google or Yahoo (which page it appears on and how high up the page it is when you type in search keywords), so they can be pretty handy critters to have around.
I don't see how anyone can gain any extra information through them than they would by reading your posts here. So if you're careful in the forums then there should be nothing to worry about.
I work on the basis that every word I write, every activity I engage in and every transaction that I make will be somewhere to be found on the internet if someone looks hard enough. Knowing this helps me sleep at night because I also know that everyone on the net is in the same bed as myself :-\
Susans is a public forum anyway, so whatever you write can be seen by anyone regardless of it getting crawled
Its most deffinatly getting crawled, and It has outed me... *shrugs* It happens... Lesson learned, my name, my picture, my location goes on nothing and hopefuly google will eventualy forget that Im here....
95% of the people here have found this site though search engines including google. That being said keep private or personal stuff to the just for us or peer support forums and no one outside this site will ever see it. Being visible means the topics and other contributions you make here can have a chance to help someone in a similar situation. So think about that when worrying about spiders.

Meh. They'll out me and I won't care... I've stopped caring. I can't possibly go stealth and get what I need.

Me too.
i dont particulrly mind since i dont plan on deep stealth. just like... kindof a little bit baby stealth. and if someone wants to learn things about me by googling my email address, then they deserve to know about my transness.
I have been on the net for ten years and belong to 20 different Yahoo groups, two my own. I am an organizer for a couple of meetup groups here in Vancouver. I am also a member of at least a half dozen different forums, I have a web site of my own, hmmmm, probably missed some. So geeee, I guess I show up in a lot of different places on the web, hey, maybe the entire world knows who Cindy is. I guess that's about as close I'll ever get to being a celebrity. "Hee, hee, hee." ;D

Well I just plugged in the two I use more often than not, one is completely unoriginal and there are lots of others out there. The other one greeneyedggirl comes up with the entire first page of google being me. I don't think you can get anymore out than having http://www.greeneyedggirl.com as your own domain...
I prefer the greeneyd-gg-irl version better because it makes me think of one of my favorite characters...
T-i-double G-e-r! Tops are made out of rubber, bottoms are made out of spings...
Then as far as being out gets, the only way I could be more out is to write a book and have it spend several months on the best seller list... But hey, that's next!
I mean, the only reason I'm here is because someone posted a link from my blog to this place and I saw it in the logs. So I thought I'd stick my head in and say hey y'all!

I don't think Google had been invented when I found this site. Or if it had, it was in it's infancy. Now where did I put that walker. :)

I sleep with the stud du jour in my mind. My bed may be physically holding me, but, between my ears, there's a party going on!
I do not say anything in here that I don't say in real life.
What I say I do in here, I tell everyone I know in real life. (If they don't see it in real time.)
That way, nothing can be held against me.
