Well, I'm back from my trip to Texas! While I was there, a couple things happened. Ok, here we go:
One night, my sister was having a sleepover with another girl. (My sister is 11) So while the friend was there, I decided that, since I was bored, I was going to play with them. That went along ok until the friend started talking to me and said: "I've never met a boy that would play with girls and can actually have a good time playing with dolls and talking." And thats when it kindof went weird. I dont really know why i said this to her, but I did. I was trying to look like I was joking when I said: "Maybe that's because I'm not a boy." I think that she was kinda confused and didn't know if I meant that or not. I really don't know why i said that, to her of all people, a person I had just met a couple hours ago. So anyway, after that a long silence was over, we started playing the game Truth or Dare. So after we had been playing for a while, it came to be my sister's turn. So she asked me: Truth or Dare? and I of course said dare. So she said: I dare you to put on one of (friend's name)'s bras. So, as you might have guessed, I was a little bit shocked, But i did it anyways. After I was done, My sister said two things. I think that they were equally shocking:
1 - "Wow! You look good in a bra!!"
2 - "Where did you learn to put on a bra??"
As for me, I don't think I look good with just a bra on. I dont know... Maybe it's just the woman part of me scrutinizing the way I look. As for the second reply, I said that I had been dared before to do it. It was a lie, but you do what you have to.
So, I want to know, What would YOU have done? Please answer these questions as if you had never come out to anybody or transitioned:
What would you say if sombody said:
1 - "I've never met a boy that would play with girls and can actually have a good time playing with dolls and talking."
2 - "I dare you to put on one of (friend's name)'s bras."
3 - "Wow! You look good in a bra!!"
4 - "Where did you learn to put on a bra??"
I'm sorry, my dear, but the last time I played "Truth or Dare" & the questions and the truths and dares were of a different nature than those. I have no idea how I'd answer those at this point in my life, nor, to tell you the truth, that I'd be asked them.
But, I can see your point.
I'd say you did a really good job the way it was. It doesn't sound as if either girl was bothered by your answers, just that they had to think about them. That's not bad at all. Very good, in fact.
Hugs,
Nichole
I have this unfortunate compulsion to tell the truth, so you can guess what I would have said. Only the last question would have caused problems.
1 - "I've never met a boy that would play with girls and can actually have a good time playing with dolls and talking." Oh? That's interesting.
2 - "I dare you to put on one of (friend's name)'s bras." Okay.
3 - "Wow! You look good in a bra!!" Thank you.
4 - "Where did you learn to put on a bra??" Um... I've been doing it for years.
I would probably have been a mixture of apathetic and possibly a little scared.
So if that was the situation I would have probably said:
1. "You have now." Although I would have been thinking "and this is no exception".
2. I would probably have shrugged and said "Whatever".
3. "If you say so." While thinking "wait a few years and see if you still think so".
4. "I've seen girlfriends do it in the past." And I would have thought "and part of me envied them for it".
That's what I would probably have said, although it's difficult to say for certain without actually being in that situation.
Hmm. I don't think the bra ordeal was a coincidence.

almost exactly what Lisbeth said, except for number 4, I'd have said "I've seen it done many times in the past" not really a lie either.

me either, most likely the question (for the truth part) would've been somthing similar. Perhaps "Do you really think you are a girl". I think the first time I'd ever heard anything about transsexuals was in 6th grade sex education, so perhaps though shocked they'd heard of the concept before. (but then that is a huge guss, who knows for sure).
Okay, you're 16 and you're playing Truth or Dare with your 11-year-old sister and her friend? That's a little ... slippery. I can't say I don't get it. For example, I see undergraduate students and see what I've missed by living as a guy. It hurts, and I long for those experiences. I was always jealous of my younger sister myself. Just be careful that that situation doesnt put you in a situation that you don't want to be in.
As to your question --
1) Huh. How about that.
2) Um.... see above. I'd probably avoid that situation. At least if it were with girls too young for me to be hanging around with in that context.
3) Thank you.
4) Learn? Uh, it's not rocket science. I didn't know there were classes.
Then I would "dare" my sister to wear a necktie -- because tying those things is pretty hard!
Yea, I guess that was a little "slippery". But I guess I wasnt thinking at the time. It was 2am and i heard a noise, went to see what it was, then they asked me to play...
1 "I've never met a boy that would play with girls and can actually have a good time playing with dolls and talking."
Well, your eleven, boys'll learn to talk...as for the dolls, mneh it was a laugh wasn't it?
2 "I dare you to put on one of (friend's name)'s bras."
Y'sure?
3 "Wow! You look good in a bra!!"
Erm. (Fake Vanity) Thanks, I just look good in everything I spose.
4 "Where did you learn to put on a bra??"
Logic.
