Greetings Everyone,
As some of you may already be aware an 18-year old transgender girl was murdered in Colorado. Why should this be of concern when so many people are murdered on a daily basis in this country? Because this murder shows the continued problems people of the transgender community face on a daily basis. The murder rate for the general population in the United States is 1 in 18,000 (roughly); the murder rate for people in the transgender community is 1 in 12 and may actually be higher because news agencies often do not report the victim as transgender but rather by their birth gender.
