The half-day training class is meant to help them deal with a colleague who is beginning a new life as a woman.
The ruling, which applies to 344 police and 166 civilian staff, has been deemed 'political correctness gone mad' by senior officers.
...
The diversity training, which will cost thousands of pounds, is designed to ensure there is no discrimination against Lauren - which could leave the force open to an expensive compensation claim.
So will she be less able to do her job she was trained for? Am I mistaken but isn't the task of the police to protect all law abiding citizens? Where did she break the law?
But even if we bought on to the narrow minded Tatcherist argument of cost. If she had to leave the force, how much resources involved in her training and her experience would be lost? Law-suit apart how much would it cost to recruit and train an other officer to take her place?
Who's bonkers here?
