The Children might seeHomophobia seems to frequently take the guise of child protection, which is irritating as it perpetuates the myth that homosexuals and bisexuals are somehow not child friendly. And this belief was illustrated wonderfully today by one of my friends who over lunch confidently declared that he didn't mind gays and lesbians but thought that "they shouldn't be allowed to have these marches on the streets because children might see".
Disingenuity knows no bounds when it comes to adults trying to cloak our prejudices and dislikes in the guise of protecting our children.
Get real, the only thing these people want to protect is their own right to be bigots and justify those with some "higher-order" BS words that mean the exact same thing.
So a child sees a person of a different sexual orientation than her parents? How's she ever gonna know without the parent saying something. I mean, all homosexuals and TSes don't walk about with those words indelibly tattooed on our foreheads for children to read!!

Exactly, Nichole. It's just another excuse for people to be bigoted idiots and to justify passing down their sickening hate crap.

After reading the hate comments left regarding Angie Zapata, Colorado SB 200, The TG 2nd grader in Colorado, same in Maine, and the 'Not my shower' referendum drive in Montgomery County, Maryland (to name just a few,) I have no doubts there are people who seriously wish LGBTs were indelibly branded so we could be instantly recognised as L, G, B or T.

Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. -Samuel Johnson
But he never lived to see the 'its for the kids' deal. He would have had a new first place.
I suppose we could always employee Dean Swift's program and use the children for food. Not my own, of course, use your own shower! :)
Oh not my kids, too skinny, I want to eat fat little rich kids.
