Hello! Just a short introduction. My name is Tina. I am a male to female transsexual. I am 38 years old, and waited far too many years, to become the person I always new I was. Although I wish I went through transition when I was in high-school, I don't regret my male-mode years. I got to sample many different things, and have a good understanding of the male perspective, even though it really doesn't apply to me. I feel like I am finally picking up on my own life, the life I left behind somewhere around 14 or 15.
Puberty at 38 is a unique experience. It is nearly a surreal experience to be in a professional office environment, going about normal "business items", when you feel like you should be at the roller rink, eating pizza, and hanging out with your girlfriends.(What I would imagine I would have done if I was a 15 year old girl) I find that it is often like hearing voices from the past as I find myself making the same exclamations about my hair or developing body, that some of my friends who were girls made when we were in high-school.
I am scheduled to have SRS with Marci Bowers this next year and FFS with Dr. Ousterhout in December. I have been on hormones for a few years and have completed most of the preparatory work.(Counselors, name change, hormones, living as a female, changing of all personal documents, etc.) Most of my online friends are part of this site, so I thought I would also join.
Sincerely,
-Tina-

Welcome to our little family. Over 1800 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion. Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams. Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.
But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister.

P.S. You will love San Francisco when you come to visit Dr. O and Mira ;)
Hi Tina and welcome to the forums :icon_wave:
Thank you all for the very warm introductions. I am very much looking forward to surgery.
Tink: Mira at Dr. O's office is one of the most amazing individuals that I have ever met in my life!!!! I have never had anyone make me feel comfortable and good about myself as her. I'm sure if I had more time in San Francisco I would like it. I had a very short stay for my initial consultation with Dr. O. The funny part was that what stuck in my mind the most from being there was that I have no idea how to walk in heels on the hills. Pretty funny for a girl who finds herself most comfortable in them. I then realized that everywhere where I've ever lived was very flat.
Janet: It is amazing that this website is so large. I had heard of it in the past, but had never really spent any time with it. It was only after I started to converse with one of your regular bloggers that I began exploring the site. It is a great family. I just wish I had this kind of resource about 15 years ago.

She is nice, very nice indeed, but let's keep in mind that's her job as well ;). She's been working for Dr. O for ages, and ages, and Dr. O is quite fond of her; rumors have it that they sometimes argue like husband and wife *giggles*....so, did you walk down California or Lombard streets with those heels? LOL ;D ;)

Welcome to Susan's, Tina,
Nice to have you among us and not simply conversing with one of our bloggers! So, spread your wealth around!!
Nichole
Tink: I did realize that one aspect of Mira's job is to people feel comfortable, especially for the price that Dr. O's charges for his work. However, like with any general "A** kissing", you may know it is going on, but it does still feel good. .....No, I didn't try to walk down California or Lombard streets with the heels. Considering I nearly fell down when I got out of the shuttle onto the street when I arrived at the Inn on Castro, I quickly realized that I had the WRONG shoes for the trip. It had to be quite a comical sight for the shuttle driver....luckily I was the last person on the shuttle.
ps. I so love my heels.....It is the biggest side benefit of transition. I will have to take more trips to SF to learn to walk in them on the steep hills!
Nicole: I will try to spread my "wealth" around as you put it, if I feel I have anything semi-useful to add.
Once again, thank-you everyone for the warm welcome.
