It's pretty significant that a McCain emissary dared to be seen hobnobbing with the Log Cabin Republicans, considering the strong anti-gay public position of the McCain/Palin ticket (and the watchful eye of Daddy D and the professional "Christian" set).
Steve Schmidt, a senior campaign strategist for the McCain campaign, dropped by a LCR luncheon during the convention to share with them that he has a gay sister, and to "pay my respect and the campaign's respect to your organization and to your group."
