Title: ...started HRT at last! :)
Post by: Mari on September 16, 2008, 01:12:55 PM
Finally... after many years of waiting: I HAVE STARTED HRT
It's hard to describe how happy I am but most of you will know what i am talking
about, right?
My regime is Androcur/Cyproteron daily and Oestradiol injection once a week.
It's hard to say that i am feeling anything since i am only a few days on it, but
feeling that i am finally starting to deal with my gender issues and that time is no
longer working against me gives me immense joy. In one way I feel like I can finally s
it back and relax, even though I know there are still many obstacles ahead of me.
How soon do you think I will notice any changes and what are the first things that
respond to HRT, having my dosage and age (20) in mind?
Thank You in advance for your feedback.  :D

You're 20 too?!  Oh wow, so am I!  I started my treatment on the 5th of this month.  I have noticed my orgasms are different as well as the stimulation of when I masturbate.  I also feel tired more often, but that may be because of school, haha.  Other than that so far I'm pretty much myself.

We can compare our progress! :)

I started Androcur on 13th and my first injection few days later. So far I noticed
that my seborrheic dermatitis (heavy dandruff and also on my face-upper lip, aroud
the nose, and near the hair line) is much improved. Skin is less oily and acne are
redueced. Also I don't recall any spontanious erections in a last few days  :)

Hey, I'm 24 and I just started a couple of weeks ago - spironolactone and oral estradiol, with dutasteride for the MPB.  I've got seborrheic dermatitis too, and I've got to agree that the HRT has helped.  My chin used to be a flaky mess that got all oozy if I let the facial hair grow for more than a day, but now the skin is smooth and healthy.

I've blogged a little bit about the changes I've noticed so far; you can find my blog in the forum The Heretic (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,281.0.html) here at Susan's.

Pain!  pain on your boobies!  ;D  That should happen within the first month on HRT actually but as your breasts grow, the pain diminishes as well.  I also experienced small, kind of tender lumps under my nipples; my hair became thicker and shinier, my skin much, much softer, my sense of smell, touch & taste changed drastically.  I know that everyone is different, but I am ready to bet that almost every girl goes through the same, initial changes. :)

I've had no pain as of yet, and haven't noticed any changes to taste or smell. The first thing was some odd twinges from down below.

I'm going to add decreased libido & testosterone readings resulting in a much calmer state.  Accute perception of sound & pain; body hair eradication of the legs, chest & arms.  This may occur only after prolonged estrogen therapy, maybe two years after the first initial dose.  Weight gain and water retention, inability to wear contact lens due to corneal curvature changes, weakness, less sweat, oilier skin...it's all good though!

What's odd for me is my sexual libido, after my second injection within two weeks, has gone up a bit.  I'm still a bit lethargic, but when girlfriends ask me if I'm "feeling it" I simply tell them I feel like myself.  Am I supposed to have this altering change or is it normal not to really feel much?  My doctor DID put me on a low dose to begin with.

I'm not really feeling much myself, but the physical changes after only three weeks or so are pretty noticeable (at least to me).  My lips are darker and a bit plumper, the facial skin more taut & less blotchy, and the acne mostly gone.  The crease under my eyes has diminished a lot.  There's a tiny bit of tenderness in my left breast, and both of them seem to be a bit more rounded and firm.  I always had a bit of gynecomastia, so it's like what I had before has just firmed up a bit.

Oh, and regarding the face and lips, the skin has gotten very dry - cold, dry weather or a constant wind makes me crack and peel like crazy the next day.  Today I split my lip open by yawning too widely when I woke up - blood was running down my chin.  The super-taut dry skin actually pulls my lips out and makes them look really feminine (aside from the bleeding cracks and peeling skin).  I've been staring at the mirror in a mixture of horror and wonder, thinking, "Oh God, how do I explain this to people?  I'm not supposed to be at that stage of transition yet!"  I can sort of hide it by compressing my lips and clenching my jaw, and I hate having to do that.  I know it's just a temporary side effect of the change in weather on my new girl skin, but it might cause questions.

Libido... it diminished at first, but it was almost back to normal after a few more days.  I just skipped a day of HRT as an experiment, and my sex drive completely flatlined... it looks like it's running on estrogen only :).  Of course, it also worsened an already bad bout of depression that was probably caused by tinkering with my dosage schedule.  I was asleep for most of the last 24 hours.

thanx for your best wishes... i wasn't here for a while...
So far everything is going OK... I seem to get impatient from time to
time but try to teach myself into beeing patient (cuz its usefull in many
areas of life ;))
So in last month ... my waist is somewhat slimmer and my breasts have definetly
stared to enlarge. They are quite painfull when touched or pressed so i had a
problem cuz i am used to sleep on stomach.
But i haven't noticed anything happenin to my body hair, yet...  ???
