Title: made my day
Post by: Yochanan on September 17, 2008, 05:25:28 PM
So today I was sitting in class with my book open. I hear the teacher say in the middle of lecture, "It's the page he has open--she." I looked up in surprise and couldn't help but grin. This guy knows my sex and he still called me "he", plus I wasn't binding today.  My friend who knows I'm trans caught my eye and started laughing at me 'cause I was so happy. It just totally made my day.

lol nice.  are you out to your teacher who said that?

i get a lot of mixed pronouns per class.  its kindof funny.  i think the teachers are waiting for me to object to one or the other.

No, I'm not out to any of my teachers. My only thing was, I emphasized that I did NOT want to be called my full name, supplying instead a more androgynous nick (Kat from Kathleen). I present and act completely male, though; I think I confuse a lot of people (including the teachers, when school first started). I think my English teacher gets me. On the first day when I spoke to her about my name, she said, "Ok, I won't give you away." Heheh.

that's awesome dude.  It feels good when you know you're passing.  I can tell most of my teachers get confused when they see my birth name then see my face.

My name is a problem, sometimes. I have to always carry legal identification because people sometimes won't believe I'm who I am. Every new teacher, new doctor... anyone who's had to deal with my legal name has been confused.
