Comedian Cho rips GOP on gay rights

Comedian Margaret Cho, known for her outspoken views on sexuality and politics, took aim at the Republican Party in a candid interview with the Washington Blade, assailing vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
"I think [Palin] is the worst thing to happen to America since 9-11," Cho said. "Someone who has no thoughts about women's rights and who wants to send women back to the Stone Age? You might as well not let women vote. I came out of the Democratic convention feeling so proud and excited, but now I fear that our country is so backwards in so many ways and the ignorance that exists is greater than we can even imagine."
Cho singled out Palin in part because the Alaska governor's church has encouraged discredited reparative therapy techniques to help gay people become straight.

I live in the Mat Su Valley of Alaska. I've lived in Wasilla, though now I live a few miles down the road in nearby Palmer. It's much nicer. Wasilla doesn't have a sewage plant. The federal government gave us money to build one, but when palin was mayor of the town she spent the money on a sports complex and a skate park. the skate park was so her kids would have a place to skate off of the road. The sewage of wasilla is pumped into a giant leech field, and the foul liquid, and fetid vapor seeps into the ground water, with minimal processing (you can really tell too) it's sent out of peoples' taps and back into their sinks. eeewwww!
The solids, by the way, are routinely trucked down the Parks Highway to Anchorage for processing, which is VERY expensive.
Her church has had a history of being downright nasty. I go to a church called the Church of the Covenant. We have a motto: There are no Outcasts. And we live up to it. We have two Transpeople, about 4 to 6 gay and bi people, and for a fellowship of about 20 in the middle of Alaska, that's doing pretty good. We even have as our recently retired pastor the incredible Howard Bess. His book "Pastor, I'm Gay" really helped me pull my da-da together when I was in the psych hospital a couple of years ago. Anyway Her church has been actively giving us grief for years. It's amazing how some people can take Jesus' ideas and pervert them into the opposite of Love your god, Love your neighbor, Love your enemy, and Love yourself....
She's a very hateful, spiteful and Vengeful person. Yuck! (She also tried to ban library books, her idea of education isn't very hopeful...)
Yeah, if the republican party gets voted in this time around we Gays/Lesbians/Bisexual/Transexuals are going to have a whole list of new problems. I will not allow my govt to brainwash me with their conservative christian "Dont be Gay" BS. If they get voted in, it will be painful for us, and I will likely jump country to a more accepting one. I don't like the way the US is going, and honestly I see Obama as the only person who can fix it for us and everyone else. If he loses, I will just have to leave, because then this country has no hope, the christian conservative homophobes will take control and make our transitions even illegal.
