This dinky little freshman who thinks he's hotstuff in my Drama class asked me today if I was a guy. I'm not even out of the closet. I'm generally known as a "girl." I still have my hair long and in a ponytail, and my binding method only makes my chest ambiguous, not all the way male. So the only real male thing about me is the fact that I have a shadow mustache genetically, and I lower my voice/carry myself like a guy. But anyways. I said yes. And then giggled to myself immediately afterwards.
;D
ANYWAYS, bigger question.
Like I said, I still got my hair long and in a ponytail. Naturally, it's curly, but once I pull it back into a ponytail and comb it, the part that's pulled back becomes more wavy, and the six inches or whatever that's hanging freely just curls into a big ball. I have a dance performance in under a week, I have no idea what to do with it. It's common knowledge that I am a girl, but just for once I'd like to look like a guy, since people will be sitting in huge bleachers to watch, and I could probably pass from that far away. So what do I do to it? We have hats we need to wear and use during the performance, otherwise I'd use a beanie. The hats we bought may not ship in time, so if they don't come, beanie it is. But if the hats do come, what do I do? The best idea I have is just double up the ponytail, so it's at least a smaller poof at the back. But since I have bangs, that makes me look extremely like a girl, like to the point I'm a seriously pretty girl. And. That's not a good idea.
So yeah, any ideas?
Try wearing your ponytail at the nape of your neck rather than at the back of your skull. It just looks more masculine like in this picture.

As for the bangs, part them to the side instead of having them hang in front of the face. If you have a straightner, straighten the bangs to do this more effectively. If you do not have one, put some hair conditioner in your hand and run it through the bangs to give it enough weight so that they hang somewhat straighter to allow for parting.
Done both of those already, hair is to the back as much as the curliness will allow, and the bangs are parted in the middle, pulled back behind ears.
Why don't you just get a buzz cut ?

Exactly what I was thinking.. or a shorter more male cut? Would help you pass more!
Oh yeah.. good going on that dude asking you! ha ha
Still live with my parents, who would murder me/kick me out/something of the sort if I did something that was blatantly guy-ish. :-\ Otherwise a haircut would've happened looooong ago. It's really only the hair that keeps me from passing.
Dude just take life one day at a time. My hair is the only thing preventing me from passing too. But it's really ok. I know I'm a boy. If society can't see that, that's really their problem.
If you really really want to pass badly though, given your situation....Are you allowed to wear hats in school? That's what I'm doing.
Haha, there, that's my fault cause I can't be arsed to wear a hat all the time. Wearing a hat all the time is like asking for people to pull it off just to mess with you. Besides it's way too hot here to wear a beanie more than maybe 3months a year. Eh it's okay, I'll just do the normal poof and hope nobody can see very well from the tall bleachers.
