25 September 2008 Sarajevo _ At least eight people were injured and three arrested after followers of the radical Muslim Wahabbi movement tried to block the opening of Bosnia's first gay festival.

The incident took place on Wednesday night, in the centre of Bosnian capital of Sarajevo. Among injured were two local journalists, one policeman and one Danish citizen who was reportedly a guest at the festival, local media reported on Thursday.

The "Queer Sarajevo Festival" is the first such major public event organised by the Bosnian LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Questioning and Queer) community. It is taking place between September 24 and 25 and includes a series of art events and film screenings but no public parade.

Isn't violence pretty much the standard way Bosnia celebrates just about anything?
