Title: That 5'o clock shadow
Post by: jonjon on September 28, 2008, 04:16:14 AM
I just found this video on youtube.

I suppose thats all good if you know 'how' to use make-up like that lol I know i sure dont, but it looks worth a try.

Awesome. Personally, I wouldn't fake shadow. It would look wrong on my young and feminine face. But I really like the message of this video.

It's rather funny how cisgirls think drawing fake beards with make up will make then pass as male. They would probably pass better without.

I love the intent of the first video... but she definitely looks like a girl even with the "male" look. I don't care if a girl has five o'clock shadow... I still see a girl. Point is, it shouldn't matter. Further point: in this world, it does to most people. Hopefully there are more people out there like this girl who are accepting of every gender expression there might be. Someday, maybe the world could be somewhat tolerant. Maybe.

I happened upon a cheap makeup kit and decided to have a whack at it.-

It's not perfect, cause I got bored part way through. I have no idea how girls can spend long periods of time putting on makeup. :eusa_think:

I think its a lot easier to for girls to look like guys than vice-versa.  However, I think it a lot easier to guys to be girls, then it is for girls to be men.

The problem with a makeup method is that it leaves people with blonde or sometimes red hair in the dark. If you've got black hair or brown hair, it's easier to do, but I could never do the same method as Osiris because my hair isn't dark.

That's gotta be a question of technique.

It never truly looks real, but if you're desperate hit up your local costume shop.  They'll have the goods and can teach you how to do it.  If you're embarrassed, tell 'em you're in a play or something.

You look a little like Milo Ventimiglia (from Heroes) in this pic. Hard to find a good pic to show you in comparison, but your hair and facial features are reminiscent of him.

And kudos on the makeup, it actually looks pretty real :D

His 5 o' clock is heavier, but IMO you look pretty similar.

A good place to get all the supplies you need to do facial hair is a theatrical supply company. There should be plent on-line, and even our local costume shops (in Jackson Ms) carries the professional make-up and supplies you need. You can also find how-to books on it. If you check at a local collage, you might find a used theatrical make-up book for sale cheap too.

Hmm. I know I've still got some eyeshadow from my denial phase. Maybe I will try it out one time and take pics for the lulz. Hahaha. I know the darkest colour I've got is a dark brown, and I doubt that will show up but we'll see. I've already got what looks like a shadow mustache anyways, but it's just dark upper lip hair. Guess I got lucky there.

Well, not tired... goofed around with some marker. My hair is blonde, but... I haven't washed it for two days, hah.

It wouldn't cut it in person, but that's a damn good job with a marker. Your haircut is awesome. I want it.

Well now you might have to, lol.

Yeah, this stuff would never cut it in person. And judging by my biological father's facial hair, mine would probably be lighter anyway. It's good fun to see what it'd look like roughly, though.
