Title: I can't take it anymore.
Post by: AmandaSP on October 01, 2008, 07:29:30 PM
As long as I can remember I've always wanted to be a woman.
Recently I've been stressing out about it, and my grades in school are lowering.

I've never had enough courage to go tell my parents.
Just today I almost told my friends. The problem is my friends hate Transsexuals, and what I want from them is just a little support.

I'm fed up living this way and I just want to tell my parents, the sooner the better.
My parents may be anti-trans too. There are two gay guys who live next door to us and my mom can't stand them.
I'm terrified to tell my parents, but at the same time I really think I need to.

How should I come out?

Contact a Gender Therapist ASAP.   That is the best place to start.

I agree, and please be careful, especially now around the friends you have told since you have said they hate transgendered people. protect yourself. and keep posting because here @ susans there is a lot of help & advice.

Good luck Amanda, and welcome to susans :-*

Welcome to Susan's, Amanda.

You do not say, and shouldn't on an open board, but depending on your age, income, insurance and where you live paying for the gender therapist could be a large difficulty.

If you are still on your parents' medical insurance they will have to approve the visit. So try to see a therapist who knows and practices in LTBG issues, but also works with people who have other problems.

There are some free clinics in various locations around the country where the charge may not be a problem, although getting there could be. As far as I know Boston, Philly, Seattle and San Francisco have such facilities.

Best of luck in your finding your way through this time, luv. It's good to have you here.
