After reading some posts about Prop 8, it came to my attention that both sides have no problem calling eachother liars. Before I tell you which I support, let me explain.
Those against Prop 8 claim that if it doesn't pass, California school children will not be required to learn about gay marriage in school. They accuse the Yes On Prop 8 supporters of lying about the fact that it will be a mandatory thing. Both sides are half right.
While the California Education Code DOES require that California teaches on marriage and other 'like' issues, it does not require the student to participate. It requires notification to the parent that certain things are going to be taught and then allows the parent to opt out. The problem the Yes On 8 campaign has is the fact that they are comparing it to the issue in Mass. which is not exactly the same. There, parents do not have the right to be notified ahead of time and can not opt to have their child miss those lessons. So the Yes On 8 ads are slightly misleading from that respect.
