Title: Body hair
Post by: LondonBridge on October 29, 2008, 06:18:58 AM
Hey guys! Quick question! I know that it varies differently for the individual overall, but how much of an effect did hormones and anti androgens have on your body hair? Im 18 and I guess Im lucky, Ive never had facial hair or any type of average male body hair. I do however have like fine hairs on various places on my torso(nipples, chest and kind of like...a line down my stomach?) I just wanted to know if these would eventually disappear? Because the thought of having to remove them through permanent hair removal is too huge a pain to even think about haha. Its hard to describe them...they arnt like course dark hair...they are fine and long and slightly dark although nowhere near the colour of developed male body hair.I have been on progynova daily for just over 4 months and spironolactone daily for about a month now if thats any help? I keep wondering whether the spironolactone isnt doing its job and Im going to be stuck forever removing all this hair! But then again I have only been on it just over a month so Im sure its far from taken its full effect? :) I also have a kind of...cruder question :-\ however this did not turn out to be a quick question like I said so Ill wait and see what you guys have to say before bombarding you again haha :)

Sorry to ramble!

Have a nice day!

xx

You are young and so you might get lucky with the HRT.  For me shaving is the answer.  I will be doing laser on the chest in the near future.  But then I have been assaulted by the old 'T' for 40 years now and only on "E" for about 5 months.  But it is coming in lighter.  Thanks to the "E" and spiro.

If the chest hairs are light and scarce try plucking or waxing or epilating.

Don't be surprise if the mods remove the dosages.  Part of the rules.

Hi London,

I don't think anyone here likes being referred to as guys :) I know that GG's often use it but I think
everyone here is sensitive to it :)

I think you will get a million different answers on the body hair. I started out with fairly thick hair on my lower legs from
the knee down. The hair on the front of my thighs was lighter and sparser. And very light hair on my chest. Most of
the chest hair was fine except for around the areola's. I had no back hair and no hair on the backs of my thighs.
No hair on the upper arm and light hair on the lower arm. No hair on my hands or feet.

I did not notice any changes for the first six months of HRT and then a gradual decline in growth all over. The last
couple of months I've noticed a big change. The only parts I shaved before HRT were my legs, chest and abdomen
which needed daily or every other day shaving. Now at around 12 months I can go three or four days on the legs
and the hair that does grow is much finer. I don't need to shave the abdomen at all and except for a few stray
hairs the chest does not need it either. I probably will get hair removal at some point on my legs because I hate shaving.

At your age I would expect to have totally hairless body at 12 months.

Thanks Amanda, that was a really useful reply :)

and I do apologise, I most certainly didnt mean it in that way. I think it refers more to a male in other countries, In the UK its more used to address a group of people  :-\ sorry!

What if you're 19?

No harm done London :) People use it here in the US to address a group of guys and girls, but as you can imagine we
are more sensitive about the guy part. It does not bother me that much but I know everyone is different. I found
out very quickly it's just best to avoid those types of words all together.

Kara, at 19 I would assume that the effects would be even better since you've only had a few years of
T in your system and body hair is slow to develop. I really did not get a lot of body hair till I was almost 30.

The problem is that I was REALLY hairy. Lots of terminal hair. Its calmed down but I wanna know how much further it will go away and what else is determined by genetics.

There is really no way know how HRT will effect you, all I know for certain is that it will and anything is better then now, am I correct?

I don't have any concrete answers, just what I've read from others and what I've experienced. Based on that
I think you will be pretty happy at a year or two. And there is always laser hair removal down the line as
you can afford it. I expect in a few years it will be much less expensive. But even now $5000 to $8000 will
pretty much make anyone hairless. Just add it to the cost of becoming a women. :)

Yes, that is correct :)

Too bad I'll never have that much money and by the time I do I'll already be so old I wont give a crap cause wrinkles will be worse than hair.

I bet in 5 years it will be more like half that or less. There are so many people doing it
now, even macho guys, that it's just going to get cheaper.
