A neovagina is constructed mainly from the skin of the penis, inverted, and possibly with skin from the scrotum and perineum to add length. On most people, that skin is at least somewhat hairy.

Naturally, no one wants hair growing in her neovagina. I think that's pretty easy to understand. It's just not the right place for hair and can interfere with sexual stimulation. Therefore, many surgeons recommend, or even require, that those who will undergo GRS have genital electrolysis finished a year before the surgical procedure. It needs to be finished that far ahead of time to ensure that there will be no regrowth.
