I did my first ever self-injection yesterday, my doctor started me on estradiol. I chose my thigh as I felt most comfortable with that spot. Here it is the next evening and the site is still a little sore. I'm assuming this is normal even for 20 or so hours later but I'm looking for a little reassurance.

Yep. it's usual. The nature of the IM is for the E to pool and release a bit at a time. The site will remain sore for at least a few days, regardless of where it's located, Marie.
Welcome to Susan's. You should go over to Introductions and say "hi" to everyone. :)

Hi Marie,
I would think it could be sore a few days.

Yes would have to agree with the above too,
i also use the same place and it can be sore for a little while.
I'll put another yes vote for the injection site being sore as normal. For me it comes in two phases, first after the injection which lasts maybe a hour, and then on and off for the next few days.
Hi Kiera,
Please post video for us. :)
Thanks for the input everybody, it feels better this morning. I'm probably going to have a nurse help me locate other injection sites so I can keep things interesting :)

I was too polite to say that. ::)
I've been doing IM injections for over two years and yes, it feels like a bruise for a few days after each injection.
There have been times I've hit a nerve and it is like an electric jolt. I've also hit veins and become a bit of a bloody mess.
I've injected into my thigh but have never done a buttock injection. I'll try it one of these days, but I haven't so far.
