Title: Kitten says "Meow"
Post by: kitten on May 23, 2005, 08:53:21 PM
I am Eleanor Ashley Lister.  I came out of denial about 1 year ago.  I am 55 and live in Sydney, Australia.  I am passionate about politics and am currently the secretary of my local Greens group.

Due to elections last October i have delayed starting transition, but now i am collecting clothes, and i will probably start HRT on June 1 or shortly thereafter.

Transition is occurring anyway, my thinking is changing, like my real self was dammed up and then the dam burst, and also my Testosterone levels are 1/2 those of a GG naturally, so i will also be changing my name legally in June.

I infest the Chat Rooms here, and love to talk. (watch out for political raves and computer stuff, i am a web designer).

My only religious belief is Kindness.

woo, let me know when the next (political) rave is coming up, i'll turn up with all me mates and we'll bring some stuff and get off our tits to some of the latest (white) house choons and have a right laugh and we'll par-tay! (politically)

"kindness", huh?  that's one of those new-fangled ones, isn't it?  it isn't that one with the wrist bands and the gnat skeletons and you have to plant a tree on sundays, is it, or am i getting confused?  well either way, anything with ritual sacrifice is a proper religion in my book. ;)

OK, so it's finally happened ... today i visited my new Endocrinologist for the 2nd time, and ....

i have hormones in my body now!

they are being delivered by transdermal patches, 100ug (micrograms) twice a week.

currently i am 6 hours into my first usage, and it is beginning to feel weird ...

* like i just stopped hitting myself on the head with a housebrick, and i have to adjust to that.

* also like my feelings just went into overdrive.

* apart from that, i feel just like me, only more so.

the Endo said he will review it in 6 weeks, but i am glad i am seeing my Psychiatrist on friday, i need help to understand my feelings.

the Endo also said that my Testosterone is at the low end of normal, so no suppressant needed, but that i had 100 units (he didn't say what units) more than normal of Oestrogen, about 1/2 of a GGs amount, so this is supposed to be a mild dosage to begin.

which is weird, and makes me interested in my karyotype, although it shouldn't have much effect of treatment, apparently.

oh, and i feel sort of reverse-stoned, like instead of being calmer, i'm more hyper, but flakier.

is this "normal" in any way?

Congrats Kitten, that's good news.

When I started T I had a lot of energy and unreal feeling. It may just be your brain going, "yes! This is right!". Unfortunately, the energy boost isn't as noticeable now and I'm sure will fade with time.

But I'm sure some of the women on estrogen can give a better perspective.

Hello friend Kitten,

I did follow you here.  Thank you for the lead.

Well, you know my thoughts about "normal" . . . who the "heck" can claim to know what normal really is?

The most powerful influence on our respective transitions have to do with what goes on in our marvelous minds.  Whatever your response to hormones might be, enjoy it -- it signals a shift, paradigm and otherwise.

My best to Oz,
Becky
