A planned drag queen performance to raise awareness of the inaugural World Aids Day at Frankton Market on Saturday was cancelled after organisers feared offending people.

Geoff Ruaine, a health promoter for the Gay Men's Health and Hau Ora Takatapui programmes, wanted to raise awareness, understanding and education of HIV and Aids through "colourful" performances by drag queens at the market.
