Hi,
My name is Shannon, and I'm a mid-forties transwoman living in downtown Vancouver, BC. I've been presenting as female in public for about four years now, but didn't decide to transition until late last year. I'm now well underway with it: on HRT, out to everybody, working as female, yada yada. I have a masters degree and work in community healthcare. So far, transition has been a very positive experience for me ...not without its challenges, but I am loving it quite a bit. On top of all that, I am getting married next year! This'll be my second marriage, and lucky me I get to be the bride this time!!!
I'm brand new here and wish I could post a picture already. I am such a show-off. LOL
I've been active on other sites and forums, so you might know me from there. However, my life has changed quite a bit since then. Hoping to find a happy new online home here.
Cheers!
-Shannon

Welcome Shannon. I'm not far from you - Vancouver Island. Congrats on your impending marriage.

Thanks mate!
Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I've been poking around on this site a bit, and I also read through the rules pages. I'll post a picture of the two of us as soon as I can.

Hello Shannon, and welcome to the Asylum. Tink, Dennis and the other orderlies have hopefully already shown you to your cell- I mean suite! That said, we're a fairly nice bunch here, even the orderlies ;) - not too sane, but hopefully that won't be an obstacle for you. :P

Hi Shannon!
I've never been to Vancouver, but it's already one of my favorite cities. I want to go there some day soon, maybe to catch a hockey game when the kings are playing up there.
welcome!
:)
Welcome to Susans Shannon! ;D
Thanks again for the warm welcomes! :)
Eliza, I agree - Vancouver's great, I love it here. But hockey? OMG, lol ...you'll have to talk to my boyfriend about that. He's been threatening to drag me to a game for some time. I'm sure he'd love to go with ya. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have inherited that part of the male genome. My ability to talk about cars or sports is absolute nil.
-Shan
Hi Shan.. Welcome! I'm jealous that you are enjoying beautiful Vancouver. :)

hehe, around here it seems hockey is more popular than all the other sports with women.
even if you don't go for the game, hockey players are HOT!!! >:-)

So THAT'S what it is, huh? *laughs* I've seen hockey being hugely popular on other TG forums. I always wondered what the attraction was!
-Shan
P.S. Wouldn't work on me, anyways. I am far more attracted to the nerdy/artsy types.
Hi Shannon, Welcome to Susan's. Nice to have a face I know in person here at Susan's. Wow! I guess I haven't been on the ball lately. I didn't know you were even on Susan's' until the day before yesterday. Hockey and other sports are not my cup of tea either, but maybe if they were to play in their skimpies I might watch. ;D
Shannon and I live only a few miles apart, I live on the south east end of Vancouver. I ain't neva gonna move from here either, it is certainly one heck of an improvement in climate compared to Ontario, Heck Vancouver is in the banana belt compared to Ontario. ;D Cars, well I use to mess a little with cars back when you could get to the parts with a wrench and one knew what the parts were. Well as it turned out once I got a bit older and couldn't bend as well anymore I use to have my foster daughter do the mechanic work, and she was one heck of a good little mechanic to.
Well anyway have fun hon and I'll see you someplace on some thread or another, hopefully. You will find a few other folks here to that are into service work, not just this old retired social worker.
Cindy
Heya Cindy, thanks for the welcome. Nice to see a familiar face as well. Haven't seen you and Wingwalker (I guess that's her name around here) since before your trip.
Hope you are well. See ya around.

P.S. I'm still a newbie here, eh? Only signed onto this site last week.
Well stick around hon, there are a few friendly folk here about, just have to look around on the different threads, it won't take long to find the ones who can take you for a nice friendly walk about, if you know what I mean. I have been trying to get through to you on Gmail but I guess tonight is one night they picked to be a pain in the butt. I emailed you last by hotmail.
