Title: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Post by: Godot on December 12, 2008, 08:50:30 PM
Til my parents messed it up. When December first came I was pretty happy that it was getting closer to Christmas but now as I predicted my parents are trying to <not allowed> it up by fighting over money, who gets what for who, and so on. I was never really a fan of Christmas because my parents would inevitably find something to bitch about around then but what sucks this time is a couple days ago me and them and my brother were planning on taking a trip to a nearby town and having a good time. Now....it just seems like that's gone. I was really looking forward to it...Tonight they bitched over the phone about money and whatnot for Christmas. Some electric bill came up and for some reason my dad had to get involved. My mom is still gonna pay it but my dad is bitching for money reasons. My mom got a bonus check this month that they weren't expecting and they're STILL acting like frigging babies. My mom bitched saying "Don't get me anything for Christmas is he's gonna act like this" and crap like that. I was really hoping this Christmas would be a normal one for once instead of constant bitching from both ends. As people like to tell me "There's worse parents out there than that" Yeah sure there probably is but it sucks that they have to act like little kids. Why can't we all just get along? Why is there conflict? Why do people fight? I don't know.....I doubted God tonight saying that He probably wasn't going to help or intervene in this and I feel bad but frustration builds up. It's hard to control. There's one thing that my family can't take away from me and that's the hope and positive outlook for my future. Someday I can have a Christmas (by myself or with future friends or whatever) where there is no bickering or bitching. No matter how stupid my parents get they can't take that away. Hallelujah!! Praise God!

Wow, it sounds like they are seriously missing the meaning of christmas...

I'm not too fond of Christmas either.  A whole month of people running around like chickens with their heads cut off, spending money that they don't have, with maybe a day or two where you get to see family members which you might not even want to see in the first place.

Give me peace and quiet anyday.  I'm glad Christmas only comes once a year.

Yeah...that's true VeryGnawty. If I lived on my own I probably would just hang a few lights, get a Christmas tree and decorate my house but not spend anything on presents. Those are what is expensive. Decorating is kinda fun lol

I'm lucky that I've unofficially formed no-present pacts with my friends. The only people I buy gifts for are my parents.

I would be more than happy to never recieve gifts for christmas at all if it meant that I could avoid the rigmarole and expense of purchasing them, wrapping them, delivering/posting them and the issue of the person not really wanting such tat anyway.

my mom was the same "don't get me anything" ha she changed her tune but quick on christmas day, when i got her some wine glases, a big through cover, 2 dvd's christmas with the cranks & oh brother where art thou, and she loved them, unfortunally i got the credit card bill today, & i'm gonna be stuck at home for the rest of the month, sucks but at least i got an x-box over christmas with a couple of games so i'm good i guess.
